The peppy song from ‘Soorya’, a Kannada film made by Northern Karnataka talent, was released at MMB Legacy as the first publicity for the film. The song Kempana Gallada Hudugi… sung by state award winner Ravindra Soragavi and Spoorthi, is no doubt a visual treat. Basavaraja Benne and Ravi Benne, brothers from Belgaum, are the producers of this film Soorya under Nandi Cinemas.
Director Sagar Das has told the story of a young man’s struggle and adventure to win his love through this film. Young actor Prashanth plays the lead role, while Harshita appears in the female lead. Producer Basavaraja Benne spoke about the film and said that they all worked very hard on it. Although they are entrepreneurs settled in Pune, they made this film to contribute something to the Kannada land where they were born and raised, and to nurture Kannada talent.
Sagar Das, who worked as a co-director with B. Suresh, has written the story, screenplay, and action cut for Soorya, which presents a different, new kind of mass love story. The shooting of the film has already been completed, and CG work is underway. “I had come up with this story while working as an assistant director. We thought we should have a North Karnataka-style song in the film, and this song was the result,” he said.
Armugam Ravi Shankar will be seen in a never-before-seen role. Actress Shruti will be seen playing a doctor and a modern-day Amma, while Pramod Shetty of Kantara fame plays the role of a villain from North Karnataka. He said that Sri Shasta has composed the music for five songs in the film, and Bahadur Chetan, Yogaraj Bhat, and he himself have written the lyrics for this song.
Protagonist Prashanth said that he had studied acting at the Poona Film Institute and had done small roles in serials. He appears as a hero for the first time in this film. He said that through his character, the director has shown how a middle-class boy fights to save his love. Female lead Harshita explained that there are many variations to her character, who is a college-going girl. The story of this film revolves around the decision she makes regarding her love.
The film has cinematography by Manuraj, dialogues by Manikantha K.V., and action composition by Narasimha. T.S. Nagabharana, Bal Rajawadi, Bajrangi Prasanna, Pramod Shetty, Kumkum Harihar, Deepika, and Kaddipudi Chandru form the rest of the cast.
