There is a deep hope and concern for home as the film city in Mysuru is expected to take a concrete shape soon. SV Rajendra Singh Babu and other 16 national award winning directors, actors, editors, cinematographers etc are deeply concerned about the evolution of film city in Mysuru – the government allocated land here and one of the previous state budgets set apart Rs.500 crore fund for it.

SV Rajendra Singh Babu, Krishne Gowda, producer P Seshadri, BS Lingadevaru and editor Kemparaju addressing the media highlighted the need of Gandhadagudi Housing scheme adjacent to the film city in Mysuru.

All the speakers addressing the media made a humble appeal not to disable the present scenario by wrongly guiding the present government. If not now, we would not find a better time for film city and also for housing of cinema people.

Outlining the 50 years plus struggle for Film City to Kannada film industry SV Rajendra Singh Babu brought to the notice that Mysuru is the best place as the surroundings have 252 live locations to shoot and nearly 16 palaces are in Mysuru city alone. In addition to it Dr Rajakumar, Dr Vishnuvardhana, Dr Ambarish and the present chief minister Siddaramaiah all showed keen interest in setting up film city in Mysuru in the past.

Now getting the film city in Mysuru is the top priority and we have ascertained the 20 plus issues concerning the cinema industry. In addition to it the Gandhadagudi Housing scheme is latest topic says Singh Babu.

In the two sides of Film City land at Himmavu in Mysuru 218 acres of land is identified for the housing purpose of cinema industry personnel. At this place the houses of cinema industry personnel would be very helpful for the day today activities.

We are approaching the government of S Siddaramaiah and need the attention of the entire cinema industry for the setting up of the film city in Mysuru, says Singh Babu.

According to Krishne Gowda 654 persons from the cinema industry have already registered for Gandhadagudi Housing scheme. More are expected to join and we are in proper line of control for acquisition of our needs, he says.
