In the past, there was a Kannada cinema titled ‘Simhasana’ – precisely 41 years ago. The film was directed by C.R. Simha and featured Anant Nag, Tiger Prabhakar, Deepti, and others, with music directed by Ashwath-Vaidi.
Now, we have a new film with the same title, ‘Simhasana.’ The Muhurta was held at Sri Gayatri Vishwakarma Temple in RPC Layout. V. Jayachandra, a business entrepreneur, clapped for the first scene, while political leader Mastigowda turned on the camera and wished the team well.
Chandru Nalrod, a native of Chamarajanagar, is bankrolling the film under Muneshwar Productions and is also playing the lead role. Chandru previously worked in the production department of television channels and has had eyesight problems since birth. How he adjusts to the silver screen is an interesting part of the story. He plays a coolie who turns into a politician later in life.
D.R. Dayanandaswamy of Tiptur, recognized as an assistant director on both the small and big screens, and the writer of the film “Goosey Gang,” is handling the screenplay, writing dialogues, and lyrics for two songs, and directing the action sequences for ‘Simhasana.’
Speaking on the occasion, the director mentioned that the movie will be a political drama. It will explore what the current youth are doing on social media, the challenges a common man faces when entering politics, and how he overcomes these obstacles to succeed. While it contains fictional elements, there will be scenes that connect with the viewers.
Music is composed by folk singer and album music director Arjun Swaraj, and cinematography is handled by Randhir. The film is planned to be shot in the beautiful locations of Bangalore, Channapatna, and Mysore.
Reshma plays the heroine of the film and aims for significant achievement in her character. Prakash Sannakki plays the villain, Guru provides comic relief, and Sanjay and others are introduced in various roles.
