The times have changed considerably. For a 38-minute short film, a trailer launch event garners significant media support. However, the short film ‘Sathya’ stands out for its top quality and strength, as evident from the trailer screened at Sri Renukamba Digital Theater.
Despite holding a good job in an IT company, Anand Ahipathy ventured into the film industry due to his passion for filmmaking. Prior to this movie, he directed a short film of similar quality titled ‘Sathya’. The trailer launch event for this short film, featuring a thriller murder mystery storyline, recently took place.
Anand Ahipathy himself penned the story, screenplay, dialogues, and directed the film, while also starring in the lead role. He produced this short film uniquely, with his sights set firmly on a feature film as his next endeavor.
Speaking on this occasion, Anand said, “I worked in an IT company three years ago, but I was always interested in acting. After completing a course at the Anupam Kher Institute, I acted in this short film. I directed this 38-minute film with persistence. It could serve as a prequel to a feature film; I made this film without focusing on monetary gains, prioritizing quality instead.”
The revelation of ‘Satya’ the Truth, the psycho killer, is intriguing. This short film delves into what he does, why he does it, and how he does it. Anand mentioned that it will all become clear upon viewing until the end. The shoot took place over 11 days in a Bengaluru apartment, and in essence, the short film addresses the theme of ‘ideological differences’.
Soumya, who portrayed the heroine, commented, “This short movie is Anand’s dream. It belongs to a different genre, and I am honored to have appeared in the movie as an artist.”
The film is produced by director Anand Ahipathy himself under Durga Cinemas. It features two songs with music directed by Ajay Shivraj. Sagar serves as the editor, while Karthik Siddaraj handles the camera work.
Sathya premieres on the Anand Audio Kannada channel on March 22, 2024.
