The film Sarala Subbarao, set in the backdrop of the 1971 era, has begun its promotional activities with the release of its first song. Directed by Manju Swaraj and produced by Lohith Nanjundayya under the banner of Riyan Creations, the film features Ajay Rao and Punjabi actor Misha Narang in lead roles.
The title Sarala Subbarao refers to the names of the lead characters in the film. According to the team, the narrative is based on a retro-style family story, a format said to be uncommon in recent Kannada cinema. The film was greenlit after Manju Swaraj narrated the story to producer Lohith Nanjundayya, who agreed to take it forward. The shooting has now been completed.
The first song from the film, a romantic track composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, has been released through the Saregama YouTube channel. The lyrics are written by Kaviraj and the vocals are by Sanjith Hegde. Ajaneesh Loknath stated that the film includes five songs in total.

During the promotional event, lead actor Misha Narang said she was glad to have acted in a film with such a story and mentioned that her role was a good one. Producer Lohith Nanjundayya stated that he was encouraged by the support from actor Ajay Rao and the entire crew, and expressed that the film has been completed as planned.
Several cast and crew members also spoke about their involvement in the project. The supporting cast includes Rangayana Raghu, Sri, Chitkala Biradar, Vijay Chendoor, and Raghu Ramanakoppa. Cinematography is by Pradeep Padmakumar, editing by Basavaraj Aras, art direction by Amar, choreography by Madan and Harini, and costume design by Ranjith.
The makers have described Sarala Subbarao as a period film with a focus on family dynamics. The release date is yet to be announced.
