The Kannada film Sanju Weds Geetha 2, directed by Nagashekar, is all set to re-release on June 6 with a new version. Originally released in a rushed manner on January 17, the film had created significant buzz but faced several hurdles. Despite receiving appreciation from audiences for its content, songs, and grandeur in making, some viewers felt that the film could have been even better. Due to last-minute tensions during its original release, the team couldn’t address all aspects, which led to the screenings being halted across centres within just three days.

Now, the film is ready to return in a refreshed form with 21 additional minutes of heart-touching sequences. The team officially shared this update during a press meet at the Film Chamber.

Film Chamber President Narasimhulu said, “Whenever a film team approaches us, the Chamber has always extended full support. The producers of Sanju Weds Geetha – 2 intend to re-release the film on June 6, and we’re with them. With the new scenes added, the film has become even better.”

Producer Chalavadi Kumar recalled the challenges during the initial release: “Just three days before release, a legal stay was imposed, putting us in deep trouble. All theatres were set up, and we had no option but to vacate the stay and release the film. But we had to halt the film after three days. Now, with 20 minutes of impactful, emotional scenes added, we are re-releasing it on June 6. Shivanna, Sudeepa, Upendra, and the Film Chamber have all supported us.”

Director Nagashekar explained, “It was me, not the producers, who brought the stay. Unfortunately, the producers had to suffer for something they weren’t involved in. The 21-minute CG sequence we’ve now added was the emotional soul of the film. We showed the updated version to director S. Mahender, and he was truly impressed. Today, we’re screening the film for 22 directors including S. Narayan and A.P. Arjun.”

He added, “Jayanna Films is handling the release. Shivanna will be attending the pre-release event on June 2. Many from the industry like Rockline Venkatesh and K.P. Srikanth are supporting us. Several films in the past have succeeded after a re-release — we are stepping forward with the same hope. The film was originally 2 hours 2 minutes long; now it’s 2 hours 23 minutes. The producers have stood firmly by us. We now request the media’s support for our sincere efforts.”
