In this week’s clash between two cinematic powerhouses, the actor-director combo of Prashanth Neel and Prabhas in Salaar faced off against Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki. The high-octane action-drama film by Vijay Kiragandur from Hombale Films has unequivocally emerged as the clear winner in box office collections, surpassing the Hindi comedy-drama film Dunki.

Salaar, helmed by Prabhas and Prashanth Neel, achieved an impressive ₹295.7 crores in just two days, overshadowing Dunki, which managed ₹157.22 crores in three days.

Salaar has not only set a new benchmark in Indian film collections but has also surpassed all previous records, marking a historic achievement in the country’s cinematic landscape in 2023.

Hombale Films’ Pan-India release, Salaar, received widespread acclaim upon its global debut on Friday. The film’s first-day collection of ₹178.7 crores establishes it as the highest-grossing opening day film in Indian cinema. This accomplishment is a source of pride for the Kannada film industry and its patrons, showcasing the prowess of a Kannada production company on a national scale.

With a repertoire that includes Kannada films like ‘Ninnindale,’ ‘Masterpiece,’ ‘Rajakumara,’ ‘Yuvarathnaa,’ ‘KGF Chapter 1 and 2,’ ‘Kantara,’ and ‘Raghavendra Stores,’ Hombale Films not only commands global attention through its productions but has also elevated Kannada cinema to new heights, captivating audiences worldwide.

While ‘Salaar’ is a Pan-India film, the entire technical team hails from Karnataka. Producer Vijay Kirgandur, director Prashanth Neel, cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda, music director Ravi Basruru, and actors such as Devaraj, Pramod Panju, Naveen Shankar, Madhu Guruswamy, Ravi Bhat, Garuda Ram, Bhajarangi Loki, Ashwin Haasan, and the renowned actress Shruthi, who lent her voice for the mother character, exemplify the rich pool of talent within Karnataka.

‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire,’ featuring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, and more, is written and directed by Prashanth Neel.
