RUMMY AATA: UNMASKING THE DANGERS OF ONLINE GAMBLING

Gambling has deep roots in Hindu mythology, and in today’s world, it has become a major societal menace, much like drugs. Globally, gambling is a serious issue. Addressing this concern, the highly educated and eloquent speaker, researcher, and educationist Umar Shariff has explored the subject in his film Rummy Aata. This film takes a socially responsible stance on the topic.

At the trailer launch of Rummy Aata, Umar Shariff captivated everyone with his thoughtful words and handled a few tough questions. Although the film hasn’t received much publicity, it is set to hit theaters on September 20.

Rummy Aata focuses on how online games are negatively affecting today’s youth. Shariff, who also wrote the story, screenplay, and directed the film, explores the disastrous consequences of addiction to games like rummy. Many people have lost their homes and ruined their lives due to gambling addiction. Shariff shared that the film stems from feelings deep within us all, and the dialogues serve as the film’s “superheroes.” These conversations remind us of our responsibilities. The film was primarily shot in and around Bangalore.

Recently, a song and the trailer were screened at S.R.V. Theater. Umesh Banakar, the President of the Producers’ Association and chief guest at the event, re-released the trailer. He emphasized that all parents should watch this film to better understand what their children are doing on their mobile devices. Banakar also promised the film’s team access to 177 countries via the Cinebazaar app.

Shashikant Harnalli, who launched the film’s song, also discussed his research into the flow of money in online gaming.

Raghava Surya, a narrator from a private channel, stars as the film’s hero. Another actor, Syed Irfan, plays the role of a senior lawyer. Mangalore-based television actress Vinya Shetty portrays Gauri, while Sneha Rao takes on a bold role as a lawyer.

The censor board has awarded Rummy Aata a ‘U’ certificate. The film is being released by Honeymesh Patil of Shadow Media, with Ramesh from Likhit Films handling the distribution.

The film has garnered praise at international film festivals and was primarily shot in Bangalore.

Produced by Eight Angels, Rummy Aata features cinematography by Karthik S, dialogues by Umar Shariff, stunts by Aamir, and music by Prabhu S.R. with lyrics written by Ganesh, Madhuri, and Umar Shariff.

The rest of the cast includes Raghava Surya, Syed Irfan, Vinya Shetty, Sneha Rao, Nandini Gowda, Abhi Gowda, Srikar, Roshan Srinivas, Pavana Lingayah, Girisha, and Mohan.
