The new Kannada film REDRUM (where the mirror image spells ‘murder’) is all set for release. Before the film hits the screens, production in charge Afzal and his team have released the first song, ‘Anupama…’ featuring Dritesh and Prachi Sharma.

REDRUM is the second film to receive a subsidy from the Uttar Pradesh government after ‘Banaras’. Afzal highlighted the process of obtaining the subsidy, up to Rs. 1 crore and above. He explained that primarily, 65 percent of the film must be shot in the region while adhering to the guidelines set by the UP government’s tourism department. The storyline of REDRUM is connected to that region, and the team filmed for over 20 days, covering the required 65 percent. Afzal also mentioned that they included several local artists in the production.

In addition to being the executive producer, Afzal played the lead role in the film. The first song was released by Hyderabad’s FMD Music, headed by Ramesh Bhandari, who is also the co-producer of the film. Bhandari’s company, which entered the Kannada film industry with the film ‘Bhairava’, has over 200 songs in its repertoire. Afzal noted that the film will be released in November and recalled how 14 Kannada actresses rejected the offer before they finally cast a heroine from Mumbai.

“REDRUM,” produced by Mohan Raj and Honey Chaudhary, directed by Pramod Jois, and executive produced by Afzal, has been released by FMD Audio. Written by the director, the song is sung by Darshan Narayan of “Saregamapa” fame.

Director Pramod Jois stated that this is his second directorial film, featuring a crime thriller storyline based on a true incident in North India. He explained that more than half of the film was shot in North India, making the title “REDRUM” appropriate for the crime thriller genre. The cast includes Afzal, Rajveer from Mumbai, Prachi Sharma, Dritesh, Vinay Surya, Yathiraj, Madhura, and others. Two songs are featured in the film, with the first song written by Jois, composed by Chetan Krishna, and sung by Darshan Narayan. Jois mentioned that the film would soon be submitted for censor approval.

Actor Dritesh and actress Prachi Sharma shared their experiences of the song, while Darshan Narayan spoke about it and sang four lines. Co-producer and music house owner Ramesh Bhandari, Srinivas, and cinematographer Shanku were present at the press conference.
