Prabhakar, a humble and unassuming producer in Kannada cinema known for several hits such as Avale Nanna Hendathi, Avane Nanna Ganda, Muddina Mava, Thumbida Mane, Solillada Saradara, and others, passed away on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest. He was admitted to Jayanagar Apollo Hospital.
After the mega hit Anna Thangi starring Dr. Shivarajakumar and Radhika Kumaraswamy, Prabhakar made a significant mark at the box office. Over his four-decade career in cinema, he produced films featuring prominent actors like Dr. Vishnuvardhana, Dr. Ambarish, Upendra, Shivarajakumar, Shashikumar, Jaggesh, and others.
With Avale Nanna Hendathi, directed by Umesh, Prabhakar found success. The film, starring Kashinath and Sudharani, became the talk of the town, largely due to its songs and content.
However, Lava Kusha, featuring Shivarajakumar and Upendra and directed by OM Sai Prakash, bombed at the box office, causing financial losses for Prabhakar.
Prabhakar was 64 years old and had resided in the NR Colony area for a long time. His wish to produce another film with Shivarajakumar and Radhika Kumaraswamy did not materialize.
