The principles of leaders such as The Buddha, Basava, Dr. Ambedkar, and Mahatma Gandhi are not followed in true spirit. Instead of their ethics, corruption, suppression of facts, and disobedience are ruling this country. There is no place for honesty, and common people are disregarded today. However you fight, whatever brilliance you use, the judiciary’s demand for proof gives an upper hand to the wrongdoers.

This week’s Kannada release, Prabhutva, boasts an interesting screenplay that is a political potboiler narrated in 152 minutes. Notably, over sixty well-known faces of Kannada cinema are led by the talented actor Chetan Chandra. Chetan Chandra excels as a talented action hero in this film.

The dialogues by Vinay Murthy (also the assistant director) are another trump card of the film Prabhutva. The references made by the dialogue writer are appealing. The story by Megadahalli Dr. Shivakumar holds a mirror to society.

The story writer of this film has portrayed what is happening today in city and village politics. It is a thriller filled with emotions, a care for environmental justice, disregard for mother earth, truth, etc.

The story writer Megadahalli Shivakumar has rightly put it that corruption is king. ‘Prajegalu not Prabhigalu’ under any circumstances! The democratic setup of the judiciary and police always in collaboration has resulted in nothing positive for common people. Burying the truth, disloyalty, curbing facts, and succumbing to money power, etc. rule the roost. The film also showcases how fundamental rights are taken for granted. The principles of Dr. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi will never take pride as long as society is corrupt, the film further depicts.

Chetan Chandra, known for romantic films, has turned into a full-fledged action hero. He excels in action scenes, dialogue delivery, and emotional scenes. Adhi Lokesh, Rajesh Nataranga, Veena Sunder, Naasaar, Roopa Devi, and other co-actors shine with good dialogues and emotions.

Pavana as the female lead is quite okay. The action directors have provided stunning stunts, and the cinematography of KS Chandrasekhar is another plus point of this film.

The song composed by Emil Mohammed, “Neenena Neenena…,” is very good in melody and well captured by the camera.
