The muhurtha of the upcoming Kannada film Power Star Dharege Doddavanu was held at Kanteerava Studio, marking the launch of a film inspired by the theme of eye donation and fan devotion. Director Shashank switched on the camera during the event, which was attended by veteran actor Suchendra Prasad, distributor Ramesh Babu, and other guests who extended their best wishes to the team.
The film is being directed by debutant Surya, who has previously worked as an assistant and associate director on over 15 films. The story was originally written in 2014 for actor Yash, and even had a teaser made using graphics at the time, but the project did not materialize. The same concept has now been revived with modifications.
The title Power Star Dharege Doddavanu received approval from the Film Chamber after the synopsis was submitted. The one-line plot revolves around a blind child who gains vision and sets out to fulfill a dream, representing a fan’s emotional journey.
The film will reportedly include a CGI appearance of late actor Puneeth Rajkumar using AI-based visual effects, with the graphics work already nearing completion. Shooting for the dialogue and song portions is yet to be done. The team has announced the release date as October 29, 2025.
Child artist Gnana Gururaj, known from the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, plays the blind child. Theatre actor Palya Sidhi Vilas plays the sculptor character, and Suchendra Prasad also appears in a key role. Cinematography is by Vijay Bhaskar, and music is composed by debutant Anushree Sridhar Murthy, who also provides the background score.
Visual effects are being handled by Siddesh Hiremath of Wish U FX, while executive production is managed by Pradeep Manjunath of Davangere. The team has already begun pre-production and promotions.
