In the early 2000s, there was a Kannada film titled ‘123’, featuring the famous dancer Prabhudeva and his brothers Prasad and Raju, alongside Jyothika. The movie revolved around a love story involving three brothers, each with different ailments: one was dumb, one was deaf, and the other was blind.

Fast forward to 2023, the film ‘Paryaya’ focuses on the theme of ‘Blind, Dumb, and Deaf’ personalities, presenting a socially relevant topic. The film explores how each of these characters seeks alternatives in life, particularly when dealing with their respective disabilities. Mamata Creations Belagavi has successfully developed an intriguing concept, with the trio now experiencing hearing loss, speaking loss, and visual loss.

Following the completion of shooting and obtaining a U certificate from the regional censor board, the film’s team held a media promotion event. During the event, they screened a lyrical song called ‘Jo Jo Padada Odathi,’ beautifully sung by the blind character Mahaboob, while also introducing an engaging teaser.

‘Paryaya’ is a real-life story that incorporates captivating developments by one of the actors and producer, Rajakumar. The film’s director, Ramananda Mithra, who is also associated with a children’s film called ‘Ekathe,’ shot the movie in a remote village situated on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border near Belagavi, where the local language is Konkani. The shoot spanned over twenty days, capturing the essence of the region.

The film is scheduled for release on September 8th and portrays the aspirations of a dumb character to secure a government job, the desire of a blind character to become self-reliant, and the ambition of a deaf character to achieve financial success.

Rajakumar, who plays the blind character, states that ‘Paryaya’ is based on a true story. He is an avid fan of Karnataka Rathna Dr. Puneeth Rajakumar and leads an agricultural business. Murugesh B Shivapooje, portraying the deaf character, is the publisher of a Kannada newspaper ‘Gadi Kannadiga’ and has dedicatedly worked on twenty-plus songs in the Lambani language to prepare for his role.

The film’s music, consisting of four songs, was scored by AT Ravish alias Ravish Ram. Singers Ajay Warrior, Nadira Banu, Lemon Parashuram, and Mahaboob lent their voices to the melodious tracks.

Ranjan Kumar, who plays the dumb character in the film, sought inspiration from various personalities in society to perfect his role. Notably, Lemon Parashuram, known for his record of eating 25 lemons, penned one of the songs and also sang it with gratitude for the opportunity provided by music director AT Ravish.

The film’s visuals were captured by G Ramaswamy, while Jeevan Prakash skillfully edited the movie. Rohan Kubsad served as the executive producer. The cast includes talented actors such as Jayanthi Revadi, Archana Shetty, Priya Kothari, Bheema Naik, Belagavi Kattappa, Dinesh Khandya, Suresh Belagavi, Rohan Kubsad, and others, all contributing their talents to the film ‘Paryaya.’
