A veteran journalist who transitioned into the television industry, holding numerous high positions in visual media, Parameshwar Gundkal, also known as Param, now takes the helm as director of ‘Kotee’ – a film starring popular actor Daali Dhananjay in a pivotal role.
The movie, titled ‘Kotee,’ is directed by Param, who made his mark on Kannada television. Param garnered attention through numerous experiments on television, particularly on Colors Kannada channel, where he presented stories deeply rooted in Kannada culture. Now, he ventures into directing a film for the first time, bringing forth an authentic Kannada narrative.
The title of the movie, ‘Kotee,’ was unveiled on the auspicious day of the Ugadi festival. Notably, the poster features only Dhananjay’s eyes within the word ‘Kotee,’ resembling folded five hundred rupee notes. This striking imagery is garnering attention, particularly due to the intense gaze.
The title hints at the storyline, portraying the aspirations of an ordinary individual who dreams of achieving great heights. Dhananjaya has hinted that the film will delve into the struggles of an average person striving for financial stability. This marks his first Kannada film following ‘Gurudev Hoysala.’
Param himself has penned the story, screenplay, and dialogues for the movie, in addition to directing it, thus realizing his long-standing dream of filmmaking. It’s worth noting that upon leaving the television channel last year, he expressed his desire to transition to storytelling on the silver screen.
Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios is producing the movie. Jyoti and Jio Studios, known for delivering consecutive hits in Hindi cinema, are making their debut in Kannada cinema with this project.
Vasuki Vaibhav is composing the songs, while Nobin Paul is responsible for the background score. Arun Brahman serves as the cinematographer for the film.
