Vinod Prabhakar, known as ‘Mari Tiger,’ enjoyed a modest success in ‘Fighter,’ which hit screens this month. He now takes on the lead role of ‘Nelson,’ playing a character 50 years his senior in another action-packed film.
Arun Kumar, the protagonist of the unconventional film ‘Gombegala Love,’ is transitioning into the role of director for ‘Nelson.’ The cryptic title, ‘Nenda Devarakadu,’ beneath the title, invites various interpretations. Evidently, the film ‘Nelson’ draws inspiration from the historical figure Nelson Mandela, the peace ambassador from South Africa.
At the unveiling of the ‘Nelson’ poster and teaser, the visionary Upendra graced the event at MMB Legacy and extended his best wishes. The teaser is now available on Anand Audio’s YouTube channel.
Superstar Upendra fondly reminisces about the ‘Tiger’ legacy earned by Vinod Prabhakar’s father, Tiger Prabhakar. “The aura of Tiger’s ‘Hava’ still lingers. Even today, the tiger’s claw remains the talk of the town,” he remarked. He went on to praise the teaser for its exceptional quality in terms of production, storyline, and character portrayal, predicting that the film would be a huge success.
Vinod Prabhakar expressed his delight at the positive response from industry seniors like Upendra and Darshan to the teaser. He acknowledged the courage required to tackle such a role and thanked Sriram for his support. Director Arun Kumar’s passion and Bharat’s musical talent were also acknowledged, with promises of more discussions about the film in the near future.
The genesis of ‘Nelson’ occurred during the trying times of lockdown and personal hardship. The script underwent numerous revisions and was even considered by the Tamil and Malayalam film industries. Ultimately, a decision was made to produce the film in their home turf. The script was entrusted to Sriram, who had faith in the project and served as a pillar of support. The technical team’s backing was invaluable. The filmmakers plan to shoot the film in the Chamarajanagara surroundings over a period of 60 to 90 days, as revealed by Vinod Prabhakar.
BM Sriram (Kolara) expressed his joy at Upendra’s presence at the event, recounting his own journey from poverty to success. He mentioned five individuals who played a pivotal role in his life, with Upendra being one of them. The collaboration with Arun Kumar aims to showcase the culture and heritage of the Chamarajanagara district. After viewing the teaser, BM Sriram, the film’s producer, gained further confidence in the project.
Following his impactful role in ‘Gombegala Love,’ Arun Kumar, who previously served as an assistant director on several films, takes the helm as a director for the first time under Deepa Films. The film boasts a talented team, with Prajwal Gowda as the cinematographer, BJ Bharat as the music composer, Vijay Raj as the editor, and Hari as the dialogue writer. The project is set to commence full-scale production in November.
