Rishab Shetty has been honored with the prestigious National Award for his outstanding performance in “Kantara,” making him the fourth Kannada film actor to receive this esteemed recognition. Previously, MV Vasudeva Rao for “Chomana Dudi,” Charuhasan for “Tabarana Kathe,” and the late Sanchari Vijay for “Nannu Avanalla Avalu” have received this award in the 90-year history of Kannada cinema.

The 70th National Awards were announced today, and it’s a moment of pride as seven artists and technicians from Kannada cinema have been recognized with these meritorious honors.

  • Best Entertainment Film: Kantara
  • Best Actor: Rishab Shetty (Kantara)
  • Best Action Composition: Anbariv (KGF 2)
  • Best Kannada Film: KGF 2

  • Madhyanthara: Basti Dinesh Shenai (Director’s Debut for Documentary Film)
  • Ranga Vaibhoga: Sunil Puranik (Art and Culture Film)
  • Intermediate: Suresh Urs (Editing, Madhyanthara)

Additionally, renowned actress Nithya Menon, who made her debut in the Kannada film “Josh,” has won the Best Actress award for her performance in “Thiruchitrambalam.” Nithya Menon shares the National Award for Best Actress with Manasi Parekh for her role in the film “Kutch Express.”
