Based on the deep bond between Gunda (a dog) and its owner Shankara, the film Naanu Mattu Gunda was released around two and a half years ago and won the hearts of audiences. Shivraj K.R. Pete had played the lead role, and the film was directed by Raghu Hassan. Now, its sequel Naanu Mattu Gunda – 2 is ready to hit the screens. Recently, the teaser of this film was released by Shailaja Kiragandur, wife of KGF-famed producer Vijay Kiragandur. The emotional tone of Naanu Mattu Gunda had resonated with viewers, and Raghu Hassan has taken up the sequel as well. Shailaja wished the new film even more success than the first.
Shivraj K.R. Pete, who acted in the first part, was present at the event. In this sequel, Rakesh Adiga plays the male lead, while Rachana Inder plays the female lead.
Speaking at the event, director and producer Raghu Hassan said that Rakesh Adiga plays the son of Shivraj’s character. The first copy of the film is already ready and will soon go for censor certification. “Even while making the first part, we had the story for part 2 ready. Along with a social concern, the film also carries divine content,” he said. The film has been shot in and around Ooty, Shivamogga, Thirthahalli, and Balehonnur, and they are planning for a May release.
The film has six songs composed by R.P. Patnaik, and cinematographer Tanvik has captured it beautifully. It will be released in five languages including Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi.
Actors Rakesh Adiga, Rachana Inder, Gigi, Mahantesh, Shivraj K.R. Pete, and child artist Jeevan spoke about their roles in the film.
Interestingly, the son of the dog Simbu has acted in this film. Simbu had only participated in the shoot for four days before he passed away. Now, his son Simba continues the role, carrying forward the character of Shankara’s son and the dog. Another dog named Bunty has also acted alongside Simba.
The dialogues and lyrics are written by Rohith Raman, with background music by Ruthvik Muralidhar.
