Title – NAA NINNA BIDALAARE, Banner – Kamala Uma Bharati, Producer – Smt Bhaarati Bali, Director – Naveen GS, Cinematography – Veeresh S, Music – MS Thyagaraj, Cast – Ambali Bhaarati, Panchi, KS Sridhar, Srinivasa Prabhu, Master Lohith, Harini Srikanth, Seerunde Raghu, Lakshmi Siddaiah, Manjula Reddy, Nagaraja Rao and others.
With a reputed title of 1978 ‘Naa Ninna Bidalaare’ (Starring Ananth Nag and Lakshmi) the 2024 film has something unique in content and the over possessiveness despite of all odds is the result of this 142 minutes narration.
We have heard and seen so many ghost related movies from ‘Exorcist’ and giving new angles is always the task of film makers. The debutant director of this ‘Naa Ninna Bidalaare’ Naveen has brought in over possessiveness and ailment in the character of Praveena in the film and looked at it from a different perspective. Naveen has given a rather laborious first half and in the second half makes the audience sit through.
The growth of hormone deficiency that eventually leads to depressed psychopath (he looks 16 but aged 28) stage in Praveen and one sided love towards Anjali is the root cause of this film. According to medicine this is a unique case and they achieve what they want and turn out ‘Rakshas’ for meeting the ends.
In the first half we find ‘Charmee’ (Bharati Bali) suffering from memory loss is in the custody of Rishi (Panchi) and the effort of Rishi to restore the lost memory brings Charmee to Kathlekadu in the midst of thick forest. At this place in Kathlekaadu various strange developments move the screenplay of the film quickly. The flashback opens up from servant Ramappa that explains the past of Charmee. She is in fact Anjali the fond daughter of an affluent family. The school days of Anjali — Praveena facing health issues and falling in love with her is the subject matter. Anjali is not aware of the love aspect of Praveena and things are complicated.
The series of serious incidents in the family of Anjali disturbs her father and inevitably Praveena is tied in the pole and set on fire. But the ‘Athma’ of Praveena, not satisfied, takes the revenge and is not ready to give up Anjali.
Now how to remove the Praveena ruckus Athma from Anjali is the biggest task for Rishi. He takes the help of ‘Tritota Dhyana’ expert (played by KS Sridhar) and finally the ‘Athma’ temporarily dislodge Anjali. But for this situation the mother of Praveena and divine force of Kaliyuga Kamadhenu Sri Raghavendra Swamy support comes to the rescue. In the last scene of the film ‘Naa Ninna Bidalaare’ the Athma following Anjali and Rishi gives a clue to the second part of the film.
Bharaati Bali in her debut film has given stunning performances at many places. The fire fight showcases her strength and involvement in cinema. She looks very good in the song ‘Muddu Gombe….
Panchi as lead actor gives a competent performance as Rishi. KS Sridhar as ‘Trikota Dhyana’ guru has given a very decent performance that is very commanding too. Lakshmi Siddaiah, Manjula Reddy, Harini, Nagaraja Rao, Girish, Srinivasa Prabhu given able support. The role of Master Lohith stays in the mind and it has come out naturally.
The VFX at places is rightly used, the background music and one song Muddu Gombe … .is good. A song on Raghavendra Swamy (like how we had at the climax of 1978 film Naa Ninna Bidalaare – Bidane Ninna Paada) seems to have been unnecessarily added in this film.
The production values are up to the mark, dialogues, costumes and editing are equally good for the film ‘Naa Ninna Bidalaare’.
The new attempt by director Naveen GS and Bharaati Bali is worth a watch.
