“Na Kolike Ranga” – this iconic song line, originally popularized in light music by Mysuru Ananthaswamy, has been adapted to fit the film’s context, altering the middle line from “Nan Ko Ko Kolike Ranga…” to “Na Kolike Ranga.” This song was penned by the renowned playwright and humorist TP Kailasam.
After being in production since 2020, the film “Na Kolike Ranga” is now set for release on November 10. The well-known child actor turned hero, director, and creator of the reality TV program “Master Anand” is venturing into yet another exciting concept.
In his second film, “Naa Kolike Ranga,” Anand assumes a distinctive role. He will always be seen with a hen, his beloved pet, portrayed by Bhavya as his mother. Set against a rural backdrop, the film delves into various activities from bygone eras and also features elements of the supernatural. A fraudulent occult practitioner is swindling money, with the hen held by Anand becoming the target for sacrifice. The ensuing events are sure to captivate the audience.
Director Mahesh Goravalli has crafted a narrative that complements the humorous persona of actor Anand. Rajeshwari makes her debut as the female lead, while Bhavya takes on the role of the mother. Honnavalli Krishna, Biradar, Shobaraj, Punga, Shakeela (portraying a school teacher in the film), Gaddappa, and other talented comedians form the ensemble cast.
Anand fondly recalls his on-screen companion, the hen named ‘Sukka Raja,’ which exhibited immense affection. Typically, such hens are raised for consumption, but producer Somashekhar, despite owning a nonvegetarian eatery, has chosen to preserve it as a cherished pet, residing in his home.
The film’s title track is sung by power star Puneeth Rajakumar, a Karnataka Rathna, and it has already gained popularity on social media. Additionally, there is another song titled “Mareyodunte…” sung by Khailesh Kher, highlighting the noble deeds of Mysuru’s King Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar. The original song, “Mareyodunte…,” penned by Anasuya Suresh, was acquired for this film to create a distinct rendition.
Somashekhar, the film’s producer, is also a talented singer, and his emotional tribute song following the untimely demise of Power star Puneeth Rajakumar was well-received on social media.
Esteemed yesteryear heroine Bhavya accepted the role in this film upon learning that Master Anand plays a prominent character. Rajeshwari, the daughter of producer ST Somashekhar, is delighted to have the opportunity to act alongside veterans like Bhavya and Anand.
NM Vishwa, the film’s editor, has shared that the first half is filled with comedic moments, while the second half evokes deep emotions.
Raju Emmiganur has composed the music for the film, while Dhanpal and Bette Gowda have handled the cinematography.
