Among the many Shiva Sharanas in the pages of history, the top-notch figure is Sri Basaveshwara. However, during the 12th century, there are many other ‘Vachanakaaras’ who are unsung heroes.
A devotional film titled ‘Shivasharana Molige Maraiah’ commenced production on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and Basava Jayanthi day. The renowned Shiv Sharan Molige Marayya film began at Shrigavi Siddeshwar Mutt, Koppal. The film was inaugurated by Pujya Gavi Siddeshwar Mutt Sri.
Directed by Madhusudan Havaldar, the director behind the country’s renowned Haridasa films including “Sri Jagannatha Dasaru”, “Sri Prasanna Venkata Dasaru”, and the recently released “Dasavarenya Sri Vijayadasaru”, this film is not only produced by Madhusudan Havaldar through Math Ambuja Movies and Havaldar Films but he is also directing the music. The film will feature six songs and verses, with shooting locations in Anegundi, Koppal, Bagalkote, and Hampi. C. Narayana is the cinematographer of this film.
Shiv Sharan Molige Maraiah, once a king of Kashmir, is depicted in the film. He visits the ‘Kalyana Mantapa’ and is deeply moved by the principles of ‘Shiva Sharanas’, eventually becoming a member of the community. He then passes on the kingdom to his son and sustains himself by selling wood daily. Bringing the biography of Mahamahima Shivsharan to the screen is a great pleasure. “I and JM Prahlad wrote the screenplay and dialogues,” says Madhusudhan Havaldar.
Vishnuvardhan, who has acted in a few films in the past, portrays the role of Molige Maraiah. The star cast also includes Sarath Kumar Dandin, Ingalagi Nagaraj, K. Purushottama Reddy, Keshab Shetty, and others.
