In earlier times, a cart bearing the slogan ‘Mareyadiri Marethu Nirasharagadiri’ was used to attract theatergoers since advanced technology was not available. Nevertheless, these films managed to resonate with the audience, marking the ‘Golden Era.’

The landscape has evolved significantly. Today, there are numerous channels for promoting a film, yet cinema attendance has dwindled.

Nonetheless, Dr. Sharan Hullur, a highly esteemed journalist, reminisces about the past in his new book ‘Mareyadiri Marethu Nirasharagadiri.’ This book suggests a list of 100 Kannada films worth watching, spanning 80 years of the Kannada film industry. The book boasts an intriguing title and was unveiled at a vibrant event, graced by the presence of renowned actor and director Ramesh Aravind, as well as the versatile journalist and novelist, Jogi, courtesy of Publisher Savanna Prakashana.

In essence, this book serves as a comprehensive review of the top 100 films, shedding light on the contributions of artists and technicians, along with their unique aspects. From the era of silent films to the present day, Dr. Sharan Hullur has meticulously selected 100 films that truly stand out.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Dr. Sharan Hullur for quite some time, and his journalistic style is exceptional. As the title suggests, Ramesh Aravind aptly reminded us not to miss the opportunity to purchase and read this book.
