“History repeats itself” is one part of the cinema industry’s slogan, but the resurgence of memories adds another dimension. Consider the title ‘Majestic 2’. In 2002, ‘Majestic,’ a Kannada film, marked a significant breakthrough for Darshan in his career. Now, Bharat is attempting to emulate that success with ‘Majestic 2.’ It’s not a sequel. One common thread is Ramu’s involvement; he participated in the story discussions, title selection, and screenplay for ‘Majestic,’ a box office hit. However, he was sidelined in 2002 when PN Sathya took over the film.
Now, fueled by resentment, Ramu has crafted a solid script and plans to shoot in the Majestic area—the heart of Bengaluru city—for this film.
Actor Darshan earned the moniker ‘Dasa’ from the movie ‘Majestic.’ Released 22 years ago, ‘Majestic’ not only set records but also enhanced Darshan’s reputation. Ramu, the original brain behind the concept, has now taken the helm to direct ‘Majestic 2.’
The film is slated to commence filming on the auspicious day of Mahashivaratri. Bharat, the son of veteran producer and distributor Shilpa Srinivas, is making his debut as the hero in this film. The production is helmed by T. Ananadappa, based in Chitradurga, known for his social activism and political affiliations with the JDS party.
Ramu, a seasoned technician, is both scripting and directing the film. The title unveiling ceremony for ‘Majestic-2’ took place last Monday, with many friends from the film industry attending to offer their best wishes.
Speaking at the event’s outset, producer Anandappa expressed, “I had previously initiated a film named ‘Pink Note,’ which is nearing completion. Ramu, my friend, has been advocating for this story for a long time. Once I heard it, I was impressed. Our aim is for the audience to derive something meaningful from our film. With your blessings, we are endeavoring to create a compelling movie.”
Bharat’s father, Shilpa Srinivas, overflowing with joy and reminiscences, remarked, “I’ve been part of the film industry since 1976, producing 15 films predominantly featuring stars, and distributing over 500 films. It’s my son Bharat’s debut as a hero. I urge you to bless this film as if it were your own. We seek the same support that Darshan received for his film ‘Majestic’ for our son Bharat’s ‘Majestic 2’.”
“I’m a great admirer of Darshan, and I’m particularly fond of this story and title. Our film is being launched to commemorate his 25-year journey in the industry. Even 1% of his success would suffice for us,” he added, emphasizing Bharat’s preparedness for the role of Maridasa.
Samhita Vinya, starring in her 16th film as the female lead, expressed her profound appreciation for the film’s climax. Music director Vinu Manasu has composed four songs spanning various emotions, while cinematographer Venus Murthy and stunt master Channaiah expressed their delight at being part of the project.
