Mahesh (Om), who has been involved in the film industry for the past two decades as an artist and assistant director, is now stepping into the role of an independent director. He is also taking on the role of a hero.
Non-resident Kannadigas Rajesh and Priya are producing this film. Priya Rajesh, a producer who runs several educational institutions abroad and is a winner of Miss India Universe, said, “We have been watching Mahesh for 29 years. He has struggled a lot. Lord Krishna and Jesus were both shepherds. Mahesh is doing the same, and he is the hero in Kuri Kayonu.”
Co-producer Deepu mentioned that this is their second film. Four months ago, Mahesh proposed this subject. It is not limited to any caste or religion. He stated that the film’s message will be clear after watching it.
Director and hero Mahesh (Om) shared, “When I was young, I stole money from my father’s pocket to watch movies. I have worked with Shivanna, Sudeep, Puneeth, and Vijay, starting with the Kannada film Om.”
“In between, I also worked as a loan recovery agent and did manual labor like picking sand and stones for my livelihood. Now, I want to become a mason. All my friends have supported me. Now, I seek your blessings.”
Regarding the story of Kuri Kayonu, the hero is portrayed as innocent and unfamiliar with the outside world, except for his sheep, which he loves dearly. He becomes angry when someone scolds his sheep and is distraught when one is lost.
There are plans to shoot in Kolar, Antaragange, Male Mahadeshwara Betta, and other locations around the Ganesha festival. Many artists from KR Puram will be given opportunities in the film. There is a character of a Chief Minister who will add a twist to the story, and there are plans to involve our MLA Bhairathi Basavarajanna.
Producer Rajesh, veteran actor Kote Prabhakar, and Veena Mahesh spoke on this occasion. The film Kuri Kayonu features four songs, with music composed by Raghavendra Prasad.
