Since the release of the blockbuster ‘Kantara’, the Kambala race has gained immense popularity, with a growing number of enthusiasts joining the trend.
The much-anticipated Kambala Race competition is set to take place in Bengaluru Palace on November 25 and 26. This Dakshin Kannada sport, deeply rooted in the local culture, is making headlines once again, thanks to the upcoming film ‘Kona’, directed by the nationally acclaimed SV Rajendra Singh Babu.
The renowned actor Komal Kumar leads the star cast of ‘Kona’, a Kannada film that aims to capture the attention of audiences across India. Director S Harikrishna, known for his work with Komal Kumar’s elder brother Jaggesh in ‘8MM’, describes the film as a dark comedy.
Harikrishna, drawing inspiration from real-life incidents, assures that Komal Kumar’s portrayal in ‘Kona’ is a unique character unlike anything he has done in his 30-year cinema career.
In the rich history of Kannada films, animal names have often been used, but ‘Kona’ brings a fresh approach. Produced by Tejawin Productions Vinod Kumar and Selvan, the film boasts Shashank Sheshagiri as the music composer, Vinod Kumar B as the cinematographer, and Umesh RB as the editor. Sanjay and Uttam Swaroop serve as executive producers for ‘Kona’.
While the literary meaning of ‘Kona’ is ‘Dullard’, it’s important to note that the popular actor Komal Kumar is far from it; in fact, he is considered ‘Jaana’ (intelligent).
