The runaway hit ‘Kirataka,’ starring rocking star Yash and Oviya and directed by Pradeep Raj, was released in June 2011. Now, ‘Kiraathaka-2,’ starring newcomer Thejas and Shivani, is hitting the silver screen on Friday all over Karnataka.
The sad part of this multi-crore film, directed by Pradeep Raj, is that he is not alive to see its release. He completed all the work related to this film, including the trailer, before his untimely death. He passed away in January 2022 after battling severe diabetes in his hometown of Pondicherry.
Realtor Baindoor, who hails from the construction field, emphasizes the need for audience support for ‘Kiraathaka-2.’ He credits assistant director Manu and Censor Shivu for giving him the courage to release the film. “I have invested Rs. 5 crores in this film and paid a few crores in interest for my borrowings,” he says.
The film ‘Kiraathaka-2’ is dedicated to director Pradeep Raj. Baindoor shares a close bond with the director, noting their similar gestures. While the earlier ‘Kiraathaka’ was set in a village backdrop, ‘Kiraathaka-2’ is set in a city background.
Shivani, the female lead in the role of Nandini, describes her character: “I play a homely role in the beginning and then become ‘Kirataki’ in support of the protagonist.”
Kumar is playing the villain. There are two Prajwals in the film team. Pradyothan has composed six songs for this film. Sujay Bhavikatte, the cinematographer, shares his positive experience working with director Pradeep Raj. He believes that media support is crucial for the film’s success and hopes for good coverage.
