The Apex Body of Kannada cinema Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has now become a battlefield, as the elections for it are taking place on the 23rd of September – Saturday. This time the term of distributor sector to take the President position – in the year 2023 September month 23rd the KFCC election is held.
In the 80-year history of KFCC Elections, the tactics of appeasement are seen largely and this is for the first time four persons are contesting for the prime post of President.
The veterans like Mars Suresh, NM Suresh, A Ganesh, and Shilpa Srinivas are contesting for the KFCC President post. Except for Mars Suresh, all other candidates are throwing parties and appeasing the one-thousand-plus voters of KFCC.
There are rumors of taking the members on a day’s vacation, another candidate for President’s post offered hefty gifts going to the doorstep of voters, and one more candidate considering it as prestige issue throwing late-night parties.
The team of Marsh Suresh, Roopa Iyer, Kari Subbu, and Navayuga Narayana Reddy are banking on the possible work before them.
Marsh Suresh addressing the media yesterday was very humble and with over 30 years of experience in the exhibition and distribution sector says he intends to come up with a cultural club, and housing society, work on UFO Qube issues, bring together the ditractors in Northern Karnataka under one roof of KFCC. Mars Suresh says I don’t believe in appeasing voters. Instead of that, our team is well-equipped to do good work. There are over a dozen issues that are the micro level need answers. We will work on it he says with a firm mindset.
Roopa Iyer, director, producer, and actor with a prolific career so far says we show our work, and coming to power is not the main criterion. As EC members, I have looked into various topics during the COVID-19 time. Vaccination, Ayushman cards, Arogya cards etc I took the initiative she says. With power coming we have quick access to decisions she says.
Kari Subbu another veteran says single screen should be given a facelift by strict rules from the government level. The approach of OTT, superstars doing 2 films a year, and the non-Kannada films spreading in the Karnataka market is an inconvenient position for Kannada. We will work on all these issues he says.
Senior exhibitor Navayuga Narayana Reddy says the rate of admission is a very important point to bring. We have to get government intervention like in other states he says. The support to small-budget filmmakers is very essential he felt.
