A cinema should educate the audience besides entertaining them. This film, based on the topic ‘Patience in Life’, is perhaps the first time a new team has made a detailed study and brought it to the silver screen. Jumping to conclusions might lead to havoc and disturbance in life — this is what the audience should understand from the film.

While we travel in a vehicle, the signal light with three colors — Kempu, Haladi, and Hasiru — is the central idea for this film, and the team has inculcated the same concept into human life. Just as one needs to wait patiently for the signal to turn green (Hasiru) to move forward, the same approach should be applied in life. No patience in life one would be patient!

Director Mani Karthikeyan, in fact, tests the patience of the audience, and in that way also conveys the message: have patience to get the final outcome of the film. Set in coastal Karnataka, this film Kempu Haladi Hasiru has a few characters who take the 103-minute screenplay forward.

We have Arjun Ram, Bunty (Badarinath T), and Sumu working in YAS Mart. Arjun is very smart at understanding the needs of customers, while the other two have different goals of making money quickly in life. There is airhostess Saakshi and her friend Anu, magic man Vardhana Rao, Nazaria — a cute little girl on the streets with her cobbler grandfather, Arjun’s father with a second setup in life, and a cop who appears in the flow of the screenplay. There is also Dhanya, a traffic cop in love with Arjun.

The first doubt among the three friends — Arjun, Bunty, and Sumu — arises when Vardhana Rao gives an offer. Although we do not know what the offer is initially, the answer is revealed in the climax. Among the three, it is Arjun who decides to help Vardhana Rao. This is misunderstood by Bunty and Sumu. The needle of suspicion now falls on Arjun as he frequently meets Vardhana Rao.

On the other side, a cop is chasing Arjun on the streets; we see a murdered person and a gang following, which obviously leads to the misconception that Arjun is the culprit. As we move towards the final stages of the film, all the main characters assemble at Vardhana Rao’s house for a sigh of relief. That meeting also clears the doubts in the minds of the audience.

The protagonist Srihan has lived the role, showing good expressions, and his tolerance is quite evident. Aravind Bolar of Tulu Nadu delivers fine dialogues that are rib-tickling at places. Divya Suresh looks glamorous. Chindodi Vijaykumar as Vardhana Rao displays a sense of patience through his expressions. Dhanya’s character is impressive in a short role.

There are two good tunes — one for Dhanya and another for Saakshi, both with lilting music. The friendship song is also quite good. The background score, very important for this film, has been handled well. Manjunath Nayak’s cinematography captures the mood of the film effectively. The editing is fast and keeps the audience seated with patience. Kempu Haladi Hasiru is interesting for its theme — tolerance in life. After all, the journey of life is of endless distance.
