Chandru Obayya of U Turn 2 fame is now launching films one after another, and some are already in the release stage. Among them is Karimani Maalika Neenalla. The film, which has already completed its shooting, is currently in the final stage of post-production. Chandru Obaiah himself has taken on the responsibilities of story, screenplay, direction, and production. Annapoorna Shankrayya has joined hands as the film’s co-producer.
Maruthi B.M.T.C., who works at BMTC, plays the hero in this film, while Ramika Sutar plays the female lead. Another important role is portrayed by Cockroach Sudhi. The film’s teaser was released by director Pallakki Radhakrishna and Anjinappa. Chief guests T.N. Nagesh and Srinivas participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandru Obaiah said, “Karimani Maalika Neenalla is my 9th directorial venture. The title is based on a real incident that happened in Bengaluru. It’s a unique love story between a boy who sells tender coconut and a girl who sells flowers. A third person enters between them. The suspense of the film lies in who becomes the ‘Karimani Maalika’ of the heroine. I found this title suitable for the story I had prepared, and thus chose it. We shot for over 35 days around Bengaluru. The title song of the film was shot at Nidagal Betta near Pavagada. The film has three songs — apart from the title song, there are two melody songs. I have composed the music myself,” he said.
Lead actor Maruthi B.M.T.C. spoke next, “I’m currently working at BMTC. I did my education in Kaginele, Byadgi Taluk. During my school days, I acted in several plays. Becoming a film actor was my long-time dream. That’s why I learned acting at Srushti Academy. In this film, I have acted as a boy who sells tender coconut,” he said.
Actress Ramika Sutar, who plays the female lead, said, “I’m originally from Gulbarga. I’ve always had an interest in cinema. I’ve attended acting classes. In this film, I have acted as a girl who sells flowers — a slightly local, market-type character. I got selected through an audition and got the role in this film,” she said.
Actor Cockroach Sudhi said, “I play the role of a third person who comes into the love story of the hero and heroine. Maruthi has entered cinema with great dreams. Whether it’s Neenalla (Not You) or Neene Nalla (You Are Good), what the heroine ends up saying is what the story is about.”
Actress Meenakumari said, “I’ve already acted in over 30 films. I’ve acted in Chandru’s earlier films as well. In this movie, I play the heroine’s mother.”
Other cast members include Moogu Suresh, Rekha Das, and others.
