It is a proud moment for every Kannadiga. Thanks to Prashanth S Nayak for his ‘Kappe Raaga’ seven-minute musical Wildlife documentary film!

It is said that achievements follow when hard and sincere effort is put in. This is what happened in the case of Prashanth. His perseverance, dedication, and team effort have earned him international accolades. The biggest award for ‘Kappe Raaga’ has come from the Jackson Wild Media Award, popularly known as the Green Oscars, under the animal behavior short film category. The award was declared last September. Prashanth S Nayak also wielded the camera for this very special ‘Kappe Raaga’.

Prashanth Nayak, a BBM graduate, in touch with researcher Girish in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, discovered the rarest of the rare frog first and then added the human bonding to it that is so pertinent to the present scenario.

Nyctibatrachus Kumbara, known as the Kumbara night frog, endemic to the Sharavathy river basin in the W Ghats, cannot stand on its hind limbs, but they can hug each other like humans. Researchers say this species was first documented in 2014.

The female frog attending to the call of the male frog and then laying eggs, and later the male frog protecting the eggs laid for further growth of the frogs is so interesting and touching. Prashanth Nayak, addressing the media in a very sweet manner, stated that the second time he went with eight of his friends, the mission was successful. It took a complete four months in the rainy season with very tough situations. The point of acclimatizing the frogs to the lights was one of the studio’s approaches, he says. This is the only frog species in the world to do so.

Prashanth and his team are not making money but presenting the world with the rarest frog available in Karnataka Western Ghats. The philosophical Guru Jaggi Vasudev has given commentary on ‘Kappe Raaga’ and wished the team.

Laurels are following from all corners for this prestigious making of Prashanth. From the 16th of March, ‘Kappe Raaga’ will be available free in all segments.

Thanking immensely Dr. Girish Jenne, a researcher, Prashanth Nayak says Gautham has bankrolled this prestigious project.

‘KAPPE RAAGA,’ another beauty, is a soul-touching song sung by ace singer Rajesh Krishnan and Arundhati Vasishta for the composition of Ashwin P Kumar. Modada Chapparava Haasi…Hasiru Bisanige Ondtaasu Beesi…. It also deserves many awards in the coming days.
