Here is another intelligent team bankrolled by the shrewd and intelligent Dayal Padmanabhan for ‘Kapati,’ a Kannada cinema that focuses on the darknet, also known as the secrets of darkness.
Darling Krishna released the teaser at the MMB Legacy of Navarasan at GT Mall and wished good luck to the new effort by the directors’ duo, Ravikiran and Chetan SP.
“After 15 years in the Kannada cinema industry, I am on my 12th production, and 10 of them are Kannada films. As of today, I have the patience and content in my films to go ahead with good business. This ‘Kapati’ has the capacity to draw more than one crore of rupees,” says Dayal Padmanabhan, the producer of the film. Dayal recognized the significance of the subject on the ‘Dark Net’ by software professionals Ravikiran and Chetan. He immediately proposed to produce it under his banner, D Pictures. As a result, in a systematic way, the film ‘Kapati’ is ready to hit the screens on August 23. According to Dayal, the contents of this film are interesting. After ‘Gultoo,’ this is another attempt in a more entertainment format for the family. “After looking at the teaser, I agreed to produce the film. In 2022, I produced a Kannada film, and after that, two Tamil films. I firmly say wherever I go that I am a Kannada producer and director, and I am releasing ‘Kapati,’ an impactful film in theaters, and then taking it to the OTT platform.” Dayal appreciated the directors immensely and stated they have a great future. He also praised the versatility of Sukrutha Wagle and the new actors Dev Devaiah and Sathwik Krishna, saying that the Kannada film industry is getting two good actors for the future.
One of the two directors of ‘Kapati,’ Ravikiran, mentioned that the deaths of a famous Hindi actor and a celebrity happened via the darknet, and there was also a couple in Kerala who, hoping to enter a parallel world, lost their lives. “We thought it is spreading widely in this universe. ‘Kapati’ throws light on the danger and gives edge-of-the-seat thrills,” he promises. “It is the data of human beings that is at stake, solely responsible for such hazards,” he adds.
“We are trying to bring some awareness to this darknet matter. After ‘Coma’ and ‘3BHK,’ Kannada films, we are attempting this one. This connects the family, and there is enough sentiment. It is a must-watch as the data of any individual is facing a threat,” says SP Chetan, another software professional and joint director of ‘Kapati.’
This is a female-centric cinema, and ‘Kapati’ lead actor Sukrutha Wagle is in her 10th year in cinema. She returns to acting after four years. She thought of progressing as a lawyer with a professional degree settled in Udupi, but it was Ravikiran who contacted her for this film. The film throws light on both good and bad aspects of the internet. For internet users, the focus is more on the film. “Ten years ago, Dayalji told me that he would cast me in a movie, and that is happening in ‘Kapati.’ When Dayal is the producer, we can breathe a relaxed sigh of relief,” she added.
Dev Devaiah, a popular actor in TV circles, makes his debut and says hope and faith come to the team with Dayal Padmanabhan on board. “It has been a two and a half-year journey, and what Dayal said in the past about more than star actors being important always lingers in my mind.”
Sathwik Krishna, a theater actor very active on Facebook, was picked from his posts. He comes from Udupi and makes his debut in an important role in ‘Kapati.’
“There are just five characters in this film, and it has come out very well,” says background scorer Johan. A famous programmer of the Lakshman Shruthi team, Johan worked for five Tamil films and was selected by Dayal for this film.
Apparently, Dayal Padmanabhan has released a brief audiovisual report of what ‘Kapati’ is and continues this practice for his future films.
