For the first time, the national award-winning Nada Brahma Dr. Hamsalekha is scoring music for a Tulu film, and apparently, this film is also made in Kannada. “Kaljiga” in Tulu is ‘Kaliyuga’ in Kannada. The Mangaluru Kannada accent is prominent in this film. Dr. Hamsalekha, who accepted the offer when his wife Latha Hamsalekha insisted, has composed two scores for this film, but he is not handling the background score.
Hamsalekha explained the ‘Tarka and Tatwa’ in his address, stating that his wife once went to this place to offer Pooja. She spends most of my earnings on religious functions. After I initially rejected this film, she highlighted its significance, and then I called the producer and director to work out a strategy. The director, Suman Suvarna, is very intelligent, and he has a good taste in filmmaking, as disclosed by Hamsalekha.
The title and poster of “Kaljiga,” which seem to hide a strange twist in the title itself, have now been unveiled. The title and poster of Kaljiga were released in the presence of the film crew, dignitaries from various fields, and Nada Brahma Hamsalekha.
Produced under the Himani Films banner, “Kaljiga” is directed by Suman Suvarna. What is special is that after a long time, Nada Brahma Hamsalekha has returned to music direction through this movie. On this occasion, while admiring the film team, he shared some ideas. After rejecting more than 40 film offers, he revealed the reasons why he was attracted to the film. All in all, one appreciates how an entire film could have come out of Nadabraham’s lyrics.
Besides, Suman Suvarna, who worked in the direction of films like Gir Gitle, Circus, and Gamjal, has become an independent director through “Kaljiga.” Arjun Kapikad, known as the King of Action in Tulu cinema, is playing the lead role in this film. Sushmita Bhatt is paired as the heroine. Sarath Kumar AK, who owns a marketing firm called SK Group, has produced this film. Santosh Kumar, who owns businesses in the herbal and hotel industry among others, has also contributed. Producer wife Saraswathi was also present at the media briefing.
As of now, the team has kept the content of “Kaljiga” a secret. The shooting has already been completed in the surrounding areas of Udupi and Mangalore. Now three-quarters of the post-production work has also been completed. This film is made in the Kannada language style of the Mangalore region and has been dubbed in Tulu.
Cinematographer Sachin Shetty, film producer Santhosh Kumar, retired circle inspector from Mangaluru Shivprakash, and the film crew were present on this occasion. The film features music by Hamsalekha, lyrics by Sachin Shetty, background music by Prasad K Shetty, and editing by Yashwin K Shettigar. Sanil Guru of Kantara fame acted as the creative head. Radhakrishna Manila served as the executive producer, and Sandeep Shetty was the production manager for “Kaljiga.” The film is scheduled for release in September, and after the completion of post-production work, the film team will present it to the audience with more ideas.
Director Suman Suvarna has integrated significant themes of love, family drama, happiness, sadness, etc., into his screenplay of “Kaljiga.” In a nutshell, it portrays a war against adharma in the film.
