The country’s leading production house, Jio Studios, has entered the Kannada cinema market with ‘Kotee’ Cinema. Kannada’s most talented actor, Dhananjaya, is the hero of this movie. Param (Parameshwara Gundkal) is the director of the film.
Jio Studios has delivered hit movies one after the other like Baipan Bhari Deva (Marathi), Article 370, Teri Batomme Aisa Uljazia, Shaitan, and Lapata Ladies. Now, this production company has further strengthened its position by entering the Kannada cinema market.
Dhananjaya is a sensitive Kannada actor who becomes a character instead of merely acting. Excited about his role in his new movie “Kotee”, he has explored new facets of acting in this film.
“Everyone is under the impression that if only one crore is caught or if one goes to work, everything can be settled. Our ‘Kotee’ character is similar. In all households, you will find brothers, sisters, and sons like this crore,” says Dhananjaya about the character, emphasizing that there are places where hard work can rectify everything.
Param is directing this movie. This marks his directorial debut. Although this is his first experience as a film director, he is not new to storytelling. Having created many successful serials and reality shows on television channels, he has embraced the challenge of telling a story on a larger canvas.
“There are no words to describe how my dream has come true through this movie. This is possible because of Jio Studios and Jyoti Deshpande’s faith in me. Telling good and different stories, and amplifying different voices, is the basic purpose of Jio Studios. This should continue in Kannada as well, and our team will work towards it,” says Param, who also heads Jio Studios in Kannada.
Moksha Kushal is making her debut in Kannada cinema as the heroine alongside Dhananjay. This is an important movie for Kodagu-born Kannada actress Moksha, who has already appeared in many commercials. Ramesh Indira, who became more familiar to people after the movie ‘Sapta Sagardache Ello’, shines as a villain in this movie. ‘Kotee’ movie has a drama thriller plot.
Vasuki Vaibhav has composed music for the songs, with five featured in the movie. Three songs have lyrics by Yogaraj Bhat, and one song was written by Vasuki himself. Background music plays a significant role in ‘Kotee’, with music director Nobin Paul, known for his work on ‘777 Charlie’ and the acclaimed 2018 film, responsible for it. The Malayalam film ‘2018ʼ, composed by him, was India’s official entry for the Oscars that year.
The editing is done by talented young Kannada editor and photographer Prateek Shetty, who has already gained fame for his work on “Kantara” and “777 Charlie”, and has also served as a photographer for the documentary film “Gandhada Gudi”.
Arun Brahman, who collaborated with Param in their television journey, is the cinematographer of the movie ‘Kotee’. This marks his debut in the field. Rangayana Raghu, Tara, Prithvi Shamanur, Sardar Satya, and Tanuja Venkatesh are seen in different lead roles.
The release of the movie ‘Kotee’ teaser has sparked curiosity. While Dhananjaya has shown glimpses of his ability to embody characters naturally, Ramesh Indira promises to deliver an impressive portrayal of the villain. ‘Kotee’ will hit your favorite theaters on June 14.
