In the past, we’ve witnessed individuals with familial ties to the cinema industry, including artists, technicians, and producers’ children, venturing into the world of film. Adding to the list of such notable individuals is Atharva, the son of the renowned director BN Vijayakumar.
Atharva, a BBA graduate, was determined to establish himself without relying on his father’s support. He spent several years attempting to secure funding for the script he had developed, but unfortunately, no one stepped forward. It was his friend Kiran who breathed life into Atharva’s compelling concept and narration. Upon learning that his son was struggling to find a producer, director BN Vijayakumar extended an invitation to Atharva and his friend for a story presentation. That pivotal moment led to Atharva’s father agreeing to invest in the film solely based on its merit. Thus, a new hero emerged from the director’s family.
Atharva’s innovative concept for ‘Tales of Mahanagara’ breaks new ground, and his dream of several years is set to become a reality on September 15th as the film is scheduled for release.
Despite his initial desire to keep his father away from his debut film, Atharva’s wish was not granted. Vijayakumar invited his friend Dharmendra Rao to join the project.
‘Tales of Mahanagara’ boasts three distinct storylines that converge at the interval point. Kichcha Sudeepa provided the voiceover at the beginning of the film. This captivating narrative explores themes of sleep disorders, a northeastern girl’s journey to Bengaluru, and love as its central elements. Atharva also reminisces about the additional thrilling aspects of his debut project.
Atharva possesses unconventional ideas, honed during his work in TV serials such as ‘Punar Vivaha’ and ‘Patthedari Prathibha,’ which he envisioned bringing to the silver screen. Eventually, he conceived the storyline for ‘Tales of Mahanagara,’ where he assumes the lead role. His father, a renowned director, had always hoped for someone else to helm his son’s debut film. In reality, this aspiration materialized when Kiran, an engineering graduate, took charge of the director’s chair.
Atharva’s script was finalized in 2020, and it took three years to bring it before the eager audience for ‘Tales of Mahanagara.’
