In his 25th film, directed by Vijay N and produced by KRG studios, talented actor Daali Dhananjaya portrays Gurudev Hoysala, an honest yet impetuous cop. Gurudev Hoysala, delving into the realm of law enforcement, exhibits both the “good cop – bad cop” techniques to ensure justice for the common man.

The movie’s standout feature lies in its well-choreographed, power-packed action sequences, a true treat for fans of actor Daali Dhananjaya, who once again shines on the screen. The pre-interval fight sequence is anticipated to be a captivating moment. While the technical departments, including cinematography, art direction, and editing, have delivered commendable work, the background music sets the perfect mood for the film, though the songs may not leave a lasting impact.

Among the cast, newcomers Mayuri and Raghu have convincingly portrayed their roles with realism, while Gultoo fame Actor, known as Bali, captivates the audience as the antagonist, earning praise comparable to Daali’s performance in Tagaru. The film also boasts seasoned actors like Achuth Kumar, Rajesh Nataranga, Andrews Avinash, and Prathap Narayanan, who bring finesse to their characters with their outstanding performances. Nagabhushan adds a pinch of humor to the intense action drama.

Gurudev Hoysala’s storyline revolves around the conflict on the Maharashtra – Karnataka border and takes an unexpected turn with the case of a missing police officer involved with the sand mafia. The film brings attention to the issues of caste-based hierarchy, exploring the consequences when a marginalized boy falls in love with the daughter of an upper-caste landlord, exposing the brutality that arises when caste is prioritized over humanity. While the narrative might draw parallels with the film Article 15, actor Dhananjaya’s portrayal of Gurudev Hoysala with all its mass appeal brings a distinctive touch.

Though the initial part of the film may feel stretched, it becomes engaging as it progresses. The movie’s highlights are undoubtedly the action sequences and the exceptional performances by Daali Dhananjaya and Naveen Shankar, making it a worthwhile experience for the audience. Gurudev Hoysala is destined to be cherished as one of the favorite on-screen cop dramas in its universe.
