HONOR FOR SUBBANNA AT HOMETOWN

B N Subramanya, the recipient of a national award in journalism affectionately known as Subbanna, was bestowed with this honor by the President of India a fortnight ago. Following his participation in the IFFI Goa, he returned to his hometown of Kasargod, where he received a warm welcome and recognition on December 1, 2023.

The felicitation event was jointly organized by Kasargod Samskrithika Sahitya Samthe Ranga Chinnari, Nari Chinnari, and Swara Chinnari at Padmagiri Kalakuteera.

Sri Sachidananda Bharathi Swamiji, the Edaneer Pontiff, lit the lamp during the ceremony and expressed that Subramanya’s prestigious national award has brought pride to the Kannadigas of Kasaragod.

Former minister and renowned actor MLC Umasri suggested that BANASU should compile his experiences into a book, serving as a guiding force for future generations. She proudly added, “BANASU is a very silent, honest journalist, and I feel privileged to be his friend.”

Kasargod MLA NA Nellikannu, Kasargod Chinna, journalist Ravindra Joshi, and others participated in this touching event.

Approximately 25 Kannada organizations honored Subbanna with a shawl, garland, Peta, fruit basket, and a citation during the felicitation.

Expressing gratitude, veteran journalist BN Subramanya thanked the organizers for bestowing upon him the ‘Hutturu Gowrava.’

The event saw the presence of Ranga Chinnari Kolaaru Satishchandra Bhandari, Nari Chinnari Savitha, Divya Gatti Patakila, Veena Arun Shetty, Sarvamangala, Swara Chinnari Sri Krishnaiah Ananthapura, Purushottama Koppala, Janardhana Ananguru, Uday Mannippadi, Manohar, and others.
