Jack of all masters of none! That is just a saying. But for the silver screen the famous actor Gurunandan, Rank Star is ‘Mr Jack’. The title was revealed on his birthday. He is a standup comedian in this film.
Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar launched this film by clapping a few months ago. The shooting of the film is now nearing completion.
On Monday (30th December), Gurunandan celebrated his birthday and on this occasion, the film team presented Gurunandan with a gift and wished him a happy birthday by releasing the title teaser. The film has been named ‘Mr. Jack’ and the title unveiling ceremony was held at the Hyde Park Hotel in Sadashiva Nagar.
Sumanth Gowda has written the story, screenplay and directed this film. ‘This is my first film. When I first went to Gurunandan and told him the story, he liked it. He said that I will produce this film myself. Here, the hero’s name is Janakiram. Stand-up comedians keep their names short. So, the hero identifies himself as ‘Mr. Jack’. This is a romantic comedy and family drama. We are trying to show Gurunandan in a different way in the film. There are four songs in the film,’ he said.
Gurunandan said, ‘I didn’t even know that the teaser and title would be revealed today. The team only said that there was a surprise. They didn’t show me any of this. They gave me this teaser as a gift for my birthday. I thank everyone. When I heard this story, I felt like we should produce it ourselves. This story was amazing. No one has made a film about a stand-up comedian in Kannada till now. We are making such an effort through this film. All our friends also joined hands as producers. The shooting has also been completed in and around Bengaluru. We have completed 75% of the shooting. The final stage of shooting will begin from the first week of January. Except for one song, the shooting of the rest of the parts will be completed in January. The film has turned out well with the cooperation and encouragement of the team,’ he said.
“This is the story behind the comedians. Here the hero works as a stand-up comedian. We are trying to tell his past pain through the film. Whatever pain we have, without showing it outwardly, making everyone laugh is a big challenge. In my previous films, there was humor through words. But, here we have tried to make people laugh naturally and immediately. Although the director is new he has worked like a veteran. He does not stop until he is satisfied, until they get the desired output,” said Gurunandan.
Tejaswini Poonachha of ‘Harikathe Alla Girikathe’ fame is playing the female lead in the film. ‘My role is filled with suspense. This film has not only comedy but also a lot of sentiment. They have put all that together very well. The film has come out well. Only the climax part is left to be shot. This is a team effort. With everyone’s cooperation, the film was able to come out well,’ she said.
‘Mr. Jack’ stars Gurunandan and Tejaswini along with Mitra, Dharmanna Kadur, Gopalakrishna Deshpande, Giri, Sushmita and others. Popular stand-up comedians like Karthik Pathar are also acting in the film. Kiran Ravindranath is composing the music for the film and Shiv Sena is handling the cinematography.
