One of the first films to release in 2025 is the Kannada film Guns and Roses. The famous story writer of Kannada cinema, Ajaykumar’s son, Arjun, is making his debut in this film. The film is produced by HR Nataraj under the banner of Drona Creations and directed by Srinivas Kumar.
Quite often, repeated subjects told in a dashing style with good songs, comedy, etc., work out to some extent.
This 130-minute Guns and Roses has a good star cast but is told in a mediocre style by the director. Introducing new hero Arjun, son of the well-known storyteller in Kannada cinema, Ajay Kumar, the action portions of this film are very well handled by Dr. Thriller Manju. The effect of the underworld and drug mafia on youngsters is the one-line storyline of this film. It is the guns that make noise here, and roses smudge as love becomes miserable.
Producer HR Nataraj’s investment in the film is not adequately utilized. Director Srinivasa Kumar should have added more gripping elements to his screenplay rather than relying on a monotonous style of narration.
Soorya, a mechanical engineer, faces the wrath of his father because of his attitude. He becomes the culprit of a murder accidentally, which puts him behind bars for two years. In prison, the gutsy Soorya saves the brother of a drug lord, eventually landing him in bad company for the rest of his life. In the nexus of Rajendra and Nayaka, there are nefarious activities. The drug mafia operates on a large scale, putting the police in a tight position. Meanwhile, Soorya, working for Nayaka, falls in love with Ramya (Yashvika), the daughter of his opponent leader, played by Shobaraj. In the final round of action, the police department issues a shoot-at-sight order for drug operators. The climax is nothing startling.
Arjun, as the debut hero, shines only in the action portions. The rest of the cast have routine tasks to perform. Yashvika, as the heroine, is quite okay.
The music and cinematography are not very appealing. This is a free-time watch.
