For the first time in the 90-year history of Kannada cinema, the Apex Body Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has made history with an unfortunate incident of ‘Maramari’ (altercation), and it happened in Goa!
Firstly, it is a shame. Two senior member producers, A. Ganesh and Rathavara Manju, were injured during the Goa trip by KFCC members. The KFCC President, N.M. Suresh, narrowly escaped an attack, it is reported.
On May 28th, 52 members from all three committees, headed by N.M. Suresh, went for a picnic, and the ‘Maramari’ occurred in the dinner hall in Goa.
Antharya Satish first manhandled Rathavara Manju, who was badly beaten. When producer A. Ganesh tried to intervene, he was attacked with two steel forks, resulting in over 30 stitches in the hospital. A. Ganesh sustained severe injuries to his nose and forehead.
Upon returning to Bengaluru, KFCC President N.M. Suresh announced the suspension of Antharya Satish and formed a committee headed by Sa. Ra. Govindu to take further action against him.
Meanwhile, Ganesh is planning to return to Goa to file a police complaint against Antharya Satish. On Thursday afternoon, the film media attended a meeting organized by KFCC President N.M. Suresh and expressed serious objections to the conduct of the events.
The get-together was intended to be a happy occasion organized by N.M. Suresh for the 52 members after he took over as KFCC President. He confirmed that no discussions regarding the functioning of KFCC took place during the event.
