The film ‘Gauri’ that recently began production conveys a multitude of messages. This is because it is centered around the life of ‘Gauri Lankesh,’ the first daughter of the renowned writer, journalist, and director P. Lankesh. Indrajith Lankesh, seeking the blessings of his elder sister’s memorial, announced the launch of the film ‘Gauri.’ The film stars his tall and slender son, Samarjith, in his debut role as the hero, alongside Saniya Iyer as the female lead. Notably, Saniya Iyer gained fame through the popular TV series ‘Putta Gauri.’
Interestingly, the name ‘Gauri’ can be interpreted as referring to both the hero and heroine. It suits the hero, Gourishanker, Gaurish Kumar, and others, as their full names align with it. Similarly, for the heroine, ‘Gauri’ is fitting and represents the female character.
The opening ceremony of the film ‘Gauri’ took place at Doddaganapathi Temple, where the film was inaugurated by Sri Nirmalananda Swamiji, the pontiff of Adhichunchanagiri Math. However, it is worth noting that the Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, did not attend the film’s muhurat.
Indrajith Lankesh, a stylish director in the Kannada film industry, expressed his immense happiness about launching his son Samarjeeth, while his wife, Smt Arpitha, a software professional of 22 years, serves as the producer of Samarjith’s debut film.
Interestingly, in 2005, Indrajith Lankesh launched Deepika Padukone in her debut film ‘Aishwarya,’ which also starred Upendra. Deepika later achieved international stardom. Now, at the same location, Samarjith and Saniya are being encouraged to pursue their careers.
Samarjith, a student of Christ, attended the New York Film Academy, worked as an assistant director in two films by Yogaraj Bhat (‘Garadi’ and ‘Karataka Damanaka’), received training at the Ninasam acting school, and eventually embarked on his first film, which addresses a national issue.
Saniya Iyer, from a family of artists, delivered a delightful performance in her aunt Roopa Iyer’s ‘Mukhaputa.’ She also received the state government’s award for the best child actor. Her notable appearances include the ‘Putta Gauri Maduve’ mega-serial and participation in ‘Big Boss.’ Now, she is fulfilling her dream of becoming a heroine.
The film boasts a talented writing team comprising BA Madhu, Rajashekhar, and the sensational writer Masthi Manju, who has penned scripts for over 100 films. Kaviraj is responsible for writing the songs, while Jassie Gift and Chandan Shetty are handling the music composition. One of the songs, crafted by Shivu Beragi and released by Anand Audio, promises to be a musical extravaganza in the film ‘Gauri.’
Anand Audio generously contributed one of its acclaimed songs to be part of the film ‘Gauri.’ The production company has a history of collaborating on successful projects directed by Indrajith Lankesh.
Manasi Sudhir, a remarkable actor, plays a special role in the film, and Sweezal Furtado, the winner of Miss Teen Universe India 2023, also assumes a noteworthy character. Sweezal, originally from Barkur near Udupi, holds a BBA degree from St. Joseph College of Commerce.
The film has received high praise from well-known advocate Shyam, who assessed Samarjith’s appearance and predicted his potential as a Pan India star.
