Following the 1967 release of ‘Gange Gowri,’ a black and white Kannada film, here is another film bearing the same title and content. Director Purushottam (Omkar) has made a few changes to cater to the present generation.

The trailer of the film ‘Gange Gowri’ premiered at Sri Renukamba Digital Theater on Monday morning. This marks the 333rd film of Ganesh Rao Kesarkar, who portrays the role of Lord Shiva and also serves as one of the producers.

The trailer was unveiled by veteran photojournalist KN Nagesh Kumar, Kannada Film Directors Association President NRK Vishwanath, and Basavaraja Padukote.

The team’s elation was palpable as they received positive feedback. Reflecting on his role in the Siddarameshwara film, I was offered a more significant role as Lord Shiva. The timing of the trailer’s release on social media, coinciding with the Mahashivarathri Festival, adds to the auspiciousness. Ganesh Rao Kesarkar, with decades of acting and social work experience, recounts a heartwarming incident during shooting at a Judge’s House. Initially overlooked, his portrayal as Lord Shiva garnered tremendous respect from the same lady, who subsequently performed a ‘Pada Pooja’ to honor him, showcasing the reverence for Lord Shiva.

Basavaraja Padukote, one of the producers and head of Kannada Sene, aims to connect with people by showcasing the trailer at the famous festival in northern Karnataka, where 15,000 people gather.

Veteran director of mythological films BA Purushottam has helmed 27 films to date, with 24 of them being in the mythological genre. Nurtured on Harikatha narratives from the age of 5, he possesses the insight to accentuate divine themes from historical records. He credits the film’s title suggestion to the editor. Technologically advanced, ‘Gange Gowri’ incorporates 70% computer graphics and introduces additional elements like the ‘Daksha Brahma’ episode.

The cast of ‘Gange Gowri’ includes Roopali, Nikhita Swamy, Somaraj, Victory Vasu, Mahadev, Basavaraja Desai, Sumithra, her daughter Ruthu Sparsha (a taekwondo girl) portraying the young Gowri, Navaneetha, Victory Vasu, Vishnu, Jamshu, and others.

Gowri Venkatesh, a veteran cinematographer with 75 films to his credit, has worked behind the camera.
