In 1968, the Kannada film “Gandhinagara,” starring Dr. Rajakumar in a double role, made its mark on the silver screen. Now, there’s another Kannada film bearing the same title. In the Kannada film industry, “Gandhinagara” also refers to a locality that serves as the hub of all film activities.

The protagonists of this film are students from the NR Film Institute. Recently, the Muhurta ceremony for the film took place at NR Film Institute, where Ibbani marked the first scene with a clapboard. SH Nagesh, an agriculturist who has worked as an assistant director in Kannada cinema and is an alumnus of NR Film Institute, is directing this film. Balaji Rao, who studied acting at the same institute, is playing the lead role. All the roles in this film are portrayed by students of NR Film Institute.

Our movie “Gandhinagar” has no connection with the film activity in Gandhinagar. It revolves around the issue of unemployment. What happens when educated people living in a town named after Mahatma Gandhi, who brought independence to the country, become jobless? That is the essence of the story. The tagline of the film is “No Gandhi here.” I have been running the NR Film Institute for several years now, providing training in various film-related disciplines, including acting. Many students have studied here. The film is entirely acted by the students of our institute. Shooting will commence in June, taking place in Bangalore, Mysore, Sakleshpur, etc. Director SH Nagesh Raita mentioned that there are four songs and three action scenes in the film.
