A journey of Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar with Wildlife documentarian Amogha Varsha is out in theatres and it is an experience every Kannadiga should witness. A dream project of Puneeth gives a feeling that Parathma (God) himself is showing us the Heaven on earth and why and how we have to preserve that good nature in the environment and within ourselves. The movie starts with the mention of his movie as a child artist which got him a national award for Bettada Hoovu (Mountain Flower) and it ends with him bowing down to the water with a flower creating ripples making this the best conclusion to the story of a wonderful human being A True Hero – Vishwa Manava (Universal Human).
With an assumption that this docu-drama will be viewed by all, we wish to mention our favorite moments of the movie.
POWER STAR AS APPU HIMSELF
As Master Lohith as a child artist and later as Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar was seen in multiple fictional characters which was much appreciated and loved by the audience previously but this will mark the actor being himself keeping his stardom aside and be a human with a childlike curiosity knowing his motherland and showing us his point of view. It’s simply adorable to see his wit, smile, innocence, goodness, vision, and value system that he carried as real him setting an example to others.
KARNATAKA – ITS GLORY
This documentary lets us explore the rich biodiversity, Karnataka’s different types of forest, its wildlife, Underwater life, and its rivers, to the tribal culture that still preserves the old traditions. Open jeep ride in Nagarahole National Park to borrowed bike ride in Patagudi village, breathtaking Jog falls, Scuba Diving near Murdeshwar, sighting many animals like tigers, elephants, a bear, snakes, monkeys and to see Appu react in each of these moments is heartwarming. Wildlife filmmaker Amoghavarsha’s previous documentary ‘Wild Karnataka’ showcasing unexplored Karnataka’s wildlife was impressed by Appu which led to the making of Gandhada Gudi for us.
GANDHADAGUDI – A NOSTALGIA
GandhadaGudi a 1973 feature film was the first Indian movie made on the concept of the protection of forests and wildlife conservation starring Dr. Rajkumar as a forest officer and Dr. Vishnuvardhan as the antagonist on screen stands as an iconic Kannada film to date. Later the movie was made by Dr. Shivrajkumar and now Puneeth Rajkumar continues the legacy but with a Documentary Drama. There are multiple nostalgic stories shared by Puneeth through the movie about his father, his experience as a child artist, his fears, their family home and the memories attached bring us closer to the man himself.
AN IMMERSIVE CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE
The movie provides the audience with the best cinematic experience which makes the viewer travel along the journey exploring Karnataka. The movie is directed by Amoghavarsha JS, the Cinematography by Pratheek Shetty has spectacular visuals and Ajaneesh Loknath’s Music makes it a wholesome package.
LIFE LESSONS TO GENERATION NEXT
The movie has immense life lessons to look upon one of them being the co-habitation of humans with nature and the wild; with the rescue mission of a king cobra, lost elephants captured and taken care of, or sheep owners in the village considering wolfs as their siblings tell us how we can live and let live with the nature. Appu during his scuba dive picks up the plastic underwater and tells us the importance of a plastic-free society for marine life. Overall a star just by doing a project close to his heart showing us the way to live life as Vishwa Manava – Universal Human.
We urge may his attempt at this project does not limit itself just for viewing but carry forward by imbibing his qualities and continuing to contribute to society like his wishes. #AppuLivesOn
