Who is ‘Royal Mech’? In the realm of engineering academia, individuals who successfully complete their studies in the Mechanical division earn the affectionate moniker ‘Royal Mech’. This intriguing title finds its way into a Kannada film, and the reasoning behind this choice is straightforward.
The central figure of this cinematic venture, as well as its producer, Dhanush (previously known as Darshan), holds a degree in mechanical engineering. The tedium of his routine work during the challenging times of the Corona Pandemic led him to stumble upon the narrative of a ‘Zomato’ delivery boy. This encounter sparked the creative impetus for his entry into the world of Kannada cinema.
A skilled mechanical engineering graduate, Dhanush penned the storyline, wherein a Zomato delivery boy embarks on a journey to conquer the IAS examinations. This innovative concept managed to captivate the interest of Raghavendra Rajakumar, the second son of the illustrious ‘Dodmane’ Dr. Rajakumar. Impressed by the idea, Raghavendra Rajakumar volunteered his support to Dhanush, assuming the role of a guiding character in the film. This decision was largely influenced by the fact that Rajakumar IAS Academy has nurtured numerous aspirants from diverse backgrounds into accomplished IAS officers.
Upon solidifying his commitment to the project, Dhanush sought out seasoned actor Rekha Das, with whom he had previously undertaken an acting course at her institute. Dhanush expressed his desire for Rekha Das’s daughter, Shravya Rao, to be a part of the film. Acknowledging Shravya Rao’s talent as a student, Rekha Das readily agreed, even lending her own presence to one of the characters in the film.
The directorial reins were handed to the duo Dr. Jai Dev, a college lecturer, and Nagabhushan of Ballari. The musical landscape of the film was shaped by the skills of Rizwan, the composer, while Satish Rajendra assumed the role of cinematographer.
Dhanush, in addition to his contributions as an actor and producer, plays a pivotal role in Shabari Films. The fervor and dedication exhibited by him caught the attention of Zee Music, who secured the music rights, and Ashok, who pledged to acquire the film’s international rights.
At present, Dhanush and his team have successfully secured fifty percent of their investment. The film is slated for release in mid-September across the state of Karnataka.
