As we approach the 12th anniversary of the passing of the iconic actor Sahasa Simha Dr. Vishnuvardhan on December 31, 2023, the family of Dr. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan has found solace in the Dr. Vishnuvardhana memorial in Mysuru. However, dedicated fans are still eagerly awaiting resolution.
Following Dr. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan’s wishes, the memorial was relocated to Mysuru several months ago, with the inauguration held on a spacious four-acre land.
Despite this, the numerous fans and over fifty Dr. Vishnuvardhan fan associations are persistently pushing for a memorial at the exact location of the actor’s final rites—on a two-acre land at Abhiman Studio of TN Balakrishna.
The delay in allocating the 2 acres of land at Abhiman Studio, due to its lease period, led to a prolonged battle lasting several years. Consequently, Padmasri, Dr. Vishnuvardhan’s wife, Dr. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, decided to shift her husband’s memorial to Mysuru, resulting in positive outcomes.
Now, the fans view the place of Dr. Vishnuvardhan’s cremation as the ideal location for the memorial.
Recent weeks have witnessed significant progress toward establishing a memorial at Abhiman Studio, with support from superstars like Kichcha Sudeepa and Dolly Dhananjay.
Sridhar, the head of a fans association dedicated to Dr. Vishnuvardhan, who served the actor for 37 years and performed his final rites, is now advocating for the cause in Bengaluru. Sridhar, along with other members, is staging a dharna at Freedom Park, demanding 10 Gunta of land for the Dr. Vishnuvardhan memorial and assistance from the Karnataka government.
The demand for 10 Gunta of land at Abhiman Studio stems from the previous oral commitment by the studio’s family, coupled with a legal battle that resulted in the return of 10 acres sanctioned by the Karnataka government for noted actor TN Balakrishna (Balanna).
Facing challenges in obtaining the requested land, Sridhar and his team are urging the Karnataka government for support in establishing the Dr. Vishnuvardhana Memorial. This predicament has prompted some fans to stage a Dharna at Freedom Park.
Another faction of Dr. Vishnuvardhan fans, led by Veerakaputra Srinivas, has issued an ultimatum to the Karnataka government regarding the allocation of land at the actor’s cremation site.
