A memorial temple commemorating Dr. Leelavathi, one of the finest actresses and a good human personality, was inaugurated by her son Vinod Raj on December 5 at Soladevanahalli, at the farmhouse owned by the late actress.
While many years were needed for the erection of such memorials in the past, the Dr. Leelavathi memorial was completed in a quick period of time, and Vinod Raj’s initiative in setting this up deserves kudos!
It has been a year since veteran actress Dr. M. Leelavathi left us. Vinod Raj has built the ‘Dr. Leelavathi Temple’ in memory of Amma, by spending more than one crore. The temple and Dasoha Nilayam constructed at Soladevanahalli were inaugurated by Minister K.H. Muniappa, Basavanna Deva Mathdashri Siddalingaswamiji, and Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji.
On this occasion, the President of the Producers’ Association, Umesh Bankar, and senior artistes M.S. Umesh, Advani Lakshmidevi, Shailaja Sudarshan, Bank Janardhan, Girija Lokesh, Honnavalli Krishna, Padma Vasanthi, Keerthiraj, and Tennis Krishna were present. Abhijith, Dharmakeerthiraj, and others also attended. Actor Doddanna had arranged two buses for visiting the temple. More than 70 photos of actress Leelavathi have been installed in the memorial, which attracted much attention. A blood donation camp was also organized, and around 80 units of blood were collected.
