Dharma Keerthiraj, the son of a renowned antagonist in Kannada cinema, is undergoing a transformation in his career trajectory. He is shifting away from his previous roles as a charming young man in action-oriented movies. Within the industry, his senior counterpart, the acclaimed actor Darshan, humorously refers to Dharma as ‘Cadbury’.
While Dharma Keerthiraj previously experimented with action films in limited capacities, his identity as a romantic lead persisted. However, in his latest film ‘Talwar’, he takes on the role of a full-fledged action hero, featuring in five intense action sequences.
The central theme of ‘Talwar’ revolves around the concept that while the symbol of love, represented by a ‘Rose’, is responsible for causing harm to only two individuals in case of a setback, the ‘Talwar’, a formidable bladed weapon, has the potential to wreak havoc on numerous families.
Amidst the backdrop of the underworld and its brutalities, ‘Talwar’ also encapsulates elements of humanity and a subtle romantic subplot, as the protagonist Dharma Keerthiraj engages in a love story with Aditi.
Guiding the film as the director and contributing to the storyline, screenplay, and dialogues is Raghava Murali. He has previously helmed the film ‘Mumtaz’.
Noteworthy comedian from the popular show ‘Majabharatha’, Mini Darshan Avinash, assumes a significant role in the movie. Accomplished actor of both the big and small screen, JK (Jayaram Karthik), portrays the character ‘Kalki’ within this cinematic creation.
The film is presented by Touch Stone Pictures Surnalli Jayaram, with investment from Suresh Bairasandra. Interestingly, Suresh, who had previously co-produced the Kannada film ‘Bahuparak’ with Srinagara Kitty, also takes on the role of the cinematographer for ‘Talwar’.
Handling the musical compositions for the four songs in the film is KB Praveen, with Sarigama Audio securing the rights to the music. The execution of the five action sequences in the movie is overseen by Vinod, Danny, and Kungfu Chandru.
‘Talwar’ has received a ‘U/A’ certification from the regional censor board and is poised for release in the initial week of September 2023.
