Ever since ‘Thithi,’ several films with a village backdrop have followed, but they have not found the same route to success. Now, inspired by the Kannada film ‘Thithi,’ a new village film, ‘Dasappa,’ is ready, featuring one of the ‘Thithi’ actors, Thamanna, in the title role.
The life of the ‘Dasappa’ community is explored in this film. The pros and cons of Dasappa life, alongside the traditional respect they command, are discussed within the context of village politics, feuds, and more.
ARS banner is producing this film ‘Dasappa.’ Anand, Raghavendra, and Srinivas are the investors. Raghavendra is a garment businessman, while Srinivas is a tractor dealer in Ramanagara.
‘Dasappa’ is the 15-year dream of director Vijay Keelara. What he envisioned has been transformed onto the silver screen. The film was shot in Keelara village, Mandya, Channapatna, and Ramanagara.
The trailer of ‘Dasappa’ was recently released on Siri Music’s YouTube channel. There are no songs in the film. Top-notch director Bahaddur Chetan Kumar released the trailer and appreciated the effort to make a film with native content.
“I am from Keelara in Mandya district,” said director Vijay Keelara. “‘Dasappa’ is a film of pure rural charm. ‘Dasappa’ is a character that must be present for any task in all villages. The story of this film revolves around such a character named Dasappa. I was inspired by the film ‘Thithi’ and wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogue.”
Anand Kempegowda Keballi is supported by Srinivas and Raghavendra. The cast includes Manju Pavagada, Vinod Gobragala, Anjana Girish, Surakshita Shetty, Sinchana Gowda, and others.
“Directors are my friends. I loved hearing the story, so we proceeded with the production,” said co-producer Srinivas, who also appears in a small role. Another co-producer, Raghavendra, and Suresh Chikkanna of Siri Music were present at the press conference. Actors like Manju Pavagada, Vinod Gobragala, Sikhana, and Sinchana Gowda shared information about their roles.
