Director Shashank, who has helmed several tasteful films in Kannada cinema, and Darling Krishna, who has gained popularity through his performances, are teaming up again after Kousalya Supraja Rama. The pan-India film they are collaborating on has been titled BRAT. The film is being produced by Manjunath Kandakur, who had earlier produced the successful First Rank Raju, starring Gurunandan. The film’s title and title launch event were recently held in a grand manner. Producer’s brother Badrinath unveiled the title. Later, the film team members spoke.
“Director Shashank and I are doing this film after Kousalya Supraja Rama. However, BRAT is a film with a unique story that neither Shashank has directed before nor I have acted in. According to me, this film has a rare storyline in Kannada. I have mostly acted in romantic and family-oriented films, and this is a different kind of movie. For the first time, I have even attended a workshop for a film. Most of the shooting has already been completed. Although Manisha is a Kannadiga, she is debuting as a heroine in this film. The producer is making sure that there are no compromises in production. We have an amazing cast and a team of experienced technicians,” said lead actor Darling Krishna.
“The term ‘Brat’ is usually used for boys who are extremely mischievous. It is mostly used for kids below sixteen years of age. Since our film’s story is also closely connected to the youth, this title felt appropriate. When we thought of keeping a Kannada title, we found that many films had already used similar names. Since this film is releasing in five languages including Kannada, BRAT felt like the best choice. So far, no film in any language has been titled BRAT. Ours is the first. Also, as Krishna mentioned, I usually do not like making similar kinds of films. I love directing different genres. This film is also a genre I haven’t explored before. Producer Manjunath, who had earlier made First Rank Raju, loved this story and decided to return to production. His support has been crucial in making this film grand. Usually, titles are revealed through teaser clips or posters. But for our film, we have unveiled the title in a unique way—through a song. This title song has been released in five languages. Rapper Rahul Ditto has sung this song. However, this song will not be featured in the film. The movie will have three songs composed by Arjun Janya. Anand Audio has already acquired the film’s audio rights,” said director Shashank.
“BRAT is a father-son conflict. To the father, his son is a ‘Brat.’ Veteran actor Achyuth Kumar is playing the father’s role. Manisha is the heroine. Ramesh Indira, Dragon Manju, and many others are part of the cast. Abhilash Kalathi is handling the cinematography. Already, 80% of the film’s shooting has been completed. The shooting took place entirely in Bengaluru,” director Shashank informed.

“The support you all gave to First Rank Raju was immense. I liked the story narrated by Shashank. That’s why, after five years, I decided to return to production. I hope to always have your encouragement,” said producer Manjunath Kandakur.
“I am a Kannadiga. Though I have already acted in a Telugu film, this is my first Kannada movie. In this, I play a middle-class girl’s role,” said heroine Manisha Kandakur.
Rapper Rahul Ditto, Anand Audio’s Shyam, actor Ramesh Indira, who plays the villain, Dragon Manju, and actors Srivatsa, Tejas, Gaurav Shetty, and Sanchit, who play the hero’s friends, as well as cinematographer Abhilash Kalathi, shared their experiences about BRAT.
