Sharan’s much-anticipated film Choo Mantar is slated for release on January 10, 2025, marking a special treat for fans as it coincides with the festive Sankranti season. Releasing a Kannada film during Sankranti after many years is an added bonus for Sharan’s audience.
Produced by Tarun Shivappa and Manasa Tarun under the banner of Tarun Studios, and directed by Navneet of Karva fame, the film promises to deliver an exciting cinematic experience. The grand release at the start of the New Year, just ahead of Sankranti, adds to the anticipation. While Sankranti often sees big releases in Telugu and Tamil cinema, Kannada films have been largely absent during this festive season in recent years. With Choo Mantar, producer Tarun Shivappa is reviving this trend.
The release date announcement event was attended by many dignitaries, including NM Suresh, President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, and noted producer K. Manju.
Producer Tarun Shivappa expressed confidence in the film’s success, stating, “The entire team has put in immense effort, and the film has turned out exceptionally well. We are hopeful for your support as Choo Mantar releases on January 10.”
Director Navneet revealed that the film belongs to the horror-dark comedy genre. “We shot for 60 days in locations like Uttarakhand, Sri Lanka, Mysore, and Bangalore. A significant portion was filmed on a lavish set in Bangalore, constructed at a cost of two crore rupees. Ravi Varma directed the action sequences, and Anoop’s cinematography has beautifully captured the performances of all the artists, including Sharan,” said Navneet.
The film’s journey began with its title, which was given by Darshan. Tarun Sudhir has also shown his support for the project. Hero Sharan expressed his excitement, saying, “Kannada films have not been released during Sankranti for years, but Tarun is breaking that trend. This film carries a strong storyline, and I believe it will be a success. I hope this becomes a tradition where Tarun releases his films on this date every year.”
Actor Chikkanna fondly recalled the success of his film Upadhyaka with Sharan, which was released last January. He noted, “This film is quite different from our previous collaborations.”
Actress Meghana Gaonkar shared her delight at fulfilling her wish to act alongside Sharan through this project. Actress Aditi Prabhudeva added that working with such a talented team was a pleasure. Other cast members, including Prabhu Mundkar, Dilip Raj, Dharma, Narasimha Jalahalli, and Rajani Bharadwaj, also spoke enthusiastically about their roles in the film.
