In a unique convergence, Indian cinema luminaries from diverse linguistic backgrounds join forces not on the silver screen, but on the cricket field in the celebrated ‘Celebrity Cricket League’ (CCL), now entering its impressive 10th edition. The grand unveiling of the 10th edition’s poster took place at the iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, where team members in Dubai expressed their joy for the upcoming season.
The launch event for the CCL logo occurred yesterday (Feb. 2) in Dubai, accompanied by the release of a promotional video. A glimpse of the CCL promo was projected onto the façade of Burj Khalifa. The event saw the participation of all eight team captains and CCL superstars, including Kichcha Sudeep (Kannada), Sohail Khan (Hindi), Arya and Jeeva (Tamil), Taman and Sudhir Babu (Telugu), Jissu Sengupta (Bengali), Bunnu Dhillon and Sonu Sood (Punjabi), and Indrajith Sukumaran and Unni Mukundan (Malayalam).
Vishnu Vardhan Induri, the founder and managing director of CCL, emphasized that CCL brings entertainment to the sporting arena, with stars actively participating in cricket amidst their hectic schedules.
Kichcha Sudeep expressed his excitement, stating, “I was previously at Burj Khalifa for a movie, but being here for cricket is something special and unforgettable.”
The 10th season of CCL is scheduled to commence on February 23 and will run until March 17. The league round will extend until March 10, featuring 16 matches. Subsequently, the playoff round will kick off, with the opening match scheduled in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, between Mumbai Heroes and Kerala Strikers.
Jio Cinema, a leading Indian OTT platform, has announced an exclusive partnership with Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), ensuring live telecasts of the tenth season. CCL stands out as India’s unique blend of sports and entertainment.
Eight teams, representing Indian film industries, will compete for the championship over 24 days at various locations in India and the UAE. Matches will be held in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vizag. The teams include Mumbai Heroes, Kerala Strikers, Telugu Warriors, Bhojpuri Dabanggs, Karnataka Bulldozers, Bengal Tigers, Chennai Rhinos, and Punjab De Sher.
Notably, actor Salman Khan serves as the brand ambassador for the Mumbai Heroes team, captained by Riteish Deshmukh and owned by Sohail Khan. Venkatesh is the brand ambassador for the Telugu Warriors, captained by Akhil Akkineni. Kiccha Sudeep leads the Karnataka Bulldozers, while ‘Kerala Strikers,’ co-owned by Mohanlal, will be captained by Indrajith. Other team captains include Manoj Tiwari (Bhojpuri Dabangg), Sonu Sood (Punjab De Sher), and Jissu Sengupta (Bengal Tigers), owned by Boney Kapoor.
